Elise S1 111S or late low mileage
Discussion
Hiya,
I going to be buying an Elise in the next few weeks and have a max budget of £9500. I would like an S1 with a bit more 00MPH than a standard Elise and have seen a couple of 111S Elises for £10K ish. I would consider a late standard S1 if it was in VGC with low mileage. Ive seen a few S1's on Autotrader advertised as Elise 111S's but they have standard Elise wheels as opposed to 7 spokes and are 1998 models so I think it's a mistake or am I missing something? Do they often get advertised incorrectly? A hardtop is a must but not all of Elises have them so how hard and how expensive are they to get hold of one second hand? Apart from the classifieds does anyone know of one for sale in SE England? I have cash waiting!
Thanks
Keith

£9.5K is the low end for std cars let alone 111S models.....if you buy one for that price be prepared for it needing every consumable replaced at the next service and you spending a few grand on it
Id try and spend another couple of grand and get a fully sorted car and save the hassle.
have a look on here and the classifieds on www.seloc.org and read up on www.elises.co.uk for info
Why do you need a hardtop? ...theres no additional security (you can get in an Elise hardtop or not, with 5 mins) it adds weight, and is generally no more waterproof, and you will have to muck around storing it...oh and adjust your windows every time you fit it and then go back to the soft top (well most of the time) ...so no point generally...if you really want one you cen get them off here in the classifieds, or ebay - about £600

111S didnt come out till '99, with a budget of £9500 you are going to be much better off sticking to a std Elise, because pretty much any 111S you find at this level is more than likely going to have a story to tell.
All 111S have the 111S alloy, rear spoiler and headlamp covers
Hard Tops generally go for between £500-£700 and are to be found on www.seloc.co.uk , ebay or sometimes on Ph classifieds

The rear spoiler is a delete option so a car without could still be a 111S.
There are loads of people who claim there car is a 111S when i isn't though....beware!!
You won't get one for £9500 - unless it has 100k on it.
