The only downside of BTaP was the drive down in the horrendous weather. This seems to have caused damp to get into, I assume (no jokes pls), the coil pack as she was misfiring like a good'un as I went onto the M25.
Did the obvious and checked the sparkies which didn't seem damp/no mechanical rattling so did not sound like a valve. Could not get into the engine bay close enough to see the dizzy cap and finally in an attempt to make sure we got home joined the AA at South Mimms and then called them out at junc 7 of the M11 having parked at teh Little Chef and went to have a bite to eat (hmmm) only for them to turn up 15 mins later. He came to the same conclusion having taken all the sparkies off cleaned them put them back on and checked for how well they were sparking.
The car seems to have even compression on all four cylinders, but just runs very roughly. Unlike last year when the coil pack developed a crack (replaced after some palava with HR ....), the engine mgt light did not come on.
Any other suggestions or am I on the right track?
Having moved out to the sticks, who offers the best servicing nearest to me, Sudbury, Suffolk, Lakeside or Haydoms, Cambs (still going?).
Thanks in advance

yep,I have the occasional problem just like that..
Leaving the car outside at the airport, come back to drive home after a heavy downpour, it starts acting up and misfires. The car normally resides in the garage and after a night in the dry its ok again.. Let it dry out and try again

My 111S did that on Saturday morning actually. It usually lives in a garage but not friday night, which was very misty. It was very unhappy for a while but has been fine since - and even though the inside was flooded after BTaP it ran OK.
Hopefully it'll dry out.
Incidentally, do you have a misfire detection kit fitted? It's very important if you have a catalytic converter and don't want your car to catch fire.
Oh, and there is no dealer in Cambs any more.

Bonce, the detection kit is fitted, but the warning light so far has not come on, I am off up to Strattons (any good?) just to make sure.
Sorry that I did not find you on Saturday night, we were late arrivals and had to leave relatively early on Sunday, I take it yours was the Titanium 111S? (i.e. the only other one there!).
If Incorrigable puts his photo's up you might be able to put a name to the face, at least my wife, he was facinated by her clevage, dirty sod, attempted at least 3 shots until he got the right one!
Cheers

Yes, mine was the Titanium fish pond. I tried seeking you out but there were just too many people and I was under threat of a slap from my girlfriend if I spent any more time looking at ladies name badges.
Interesting because my car definitely sounded like it was misfiring on Saturday morning but my misfire light didn't come on. It refused to idle (kept stalling) until the engine warmed up.
I don't have much experience of Strattons, only been there twice. I think they're good but pricey.

Seem OK, £40 per hour, worth the trip to have an ogle at the new Vanquish! beautiful sound even though they only drove it onto to the fore court to fill up! Must sound glorious when at full whack. May try to cage a ride next time I'm up belongs to the Stratton boss or at least the reg on the car does.
If you have used them I assume you are localish, must try to do some runs or there is the hooligan session down at North Weald with Andy. Went with Mark and Richard last time, fun day out.
Will post a piccie of BTaP for recognition factor courtesy of Incorrigable. (If someone can tell me how to get an individual piccie of Fotango - too tired to try at the mo!)

B.....xs have dropped a valve, me thinks I had too good a time @ North Weald, the cars last decent thrash before the PH do. Lost compression of No 3 cylinder, any body had the same problem before? and more importantly how much will cost, linked no doubt to damage to piston, linings, rings, gaskets etc etc.
Hopefully, part of the valve seating went and just blew straight out with out causing too much damage.
I await with baited breadth! and trembling wallet.
Actually come to think of it what could I do to the engine while the head is off, I assume it could be gassflowed? thats if it is undamaged. No idea on what limitations exist when playing around with VVC engines, anyone know?
Cheers

Valve spring has gone, soooo it appears to be a case of repalce all the valves + bed them in+ new springs for something North of GBP1,000.
The questions is what do the chaps @ TT do with the Super Charger conv, do they also replace valves and springs? if so I am already part of the way there and just b.gger it and get the bloody thing supercharged?
