Is there and easy upgrade?

Also how far can you push the power up (I gather getting around 180 is quite feasible) before you need to upgrade other drive train / suspension parts to take the load?

You should really direct this question to Dave Andrews who is a member and poster on these boards - he's the K series guru.

As I understand it you are limited with tuning options on the VVC and would be better going for a non VVC engine with cams and porting

S1 uses the older MEM2J engine ECU, the S2 uses MEMS3. It’s not impossible to convert over but requires a bit of work, including a new engine wiring harness, coil packs and cam cover.

From memory there are also minute differences in the cylinder head, but as for what precisely these are, someone like Dave is best placed to advise.

S2 111s also has the girly longer geared gearbox not the close ratio box in the S1

It does but it can pull the higher gears/FD with the extra power and you get better motorway manners, and cheaper road tax too

Thanks to the funding from Vauxhall the S2 elise was designed to be appealing to a wider customer base. The likes of Grahame Norton, Alan Carr etc. Jeremy Clarkson’s ex wife had one too. My first Elise was a starlight black S2 111S and I thought it was the dogs dangles

My current elise is a starlight black 111S. I can confirm it’s the dogs dangles.

It is too long having tried a 111S. To be honest sitting at 3-4krpm on the motorway is no chore with a K Series, it's in its happy place (especially with cams). Mine is a standard S2 with the close ratio gearbox but running 165hp on ITBs/cams. Best of both worlds and not much heavier than an S1.

Re: Dave Andrews - have a look here: http://www.dvapower.co.uk/

K06a for a VVC - 175hp
K06 for a VVC - binning the VVC mechanism and adding throttle bodies. 185hp+

SAWS tuning offers remapping for 111S, I think someone else has cracked it too, there's a recent SELOC thread on it.

Found it: https://andrewrevill.co.uk/MEMS3FamiliesSupported....

VVC with short box is a fantastic combination!

Dave Andrews will no doubt tell you everything you could ever want on these engines.
