My recently purchased 111S is fitted with an ITG induction kit but the air intake is still inside the (hot) engine bay. Is this typical as I expected it to have a duct to the outside? Whilst airflow undoubtedly improved it's still pulling in hot air which sort of negates one of the benefits, i.e. to draw in cooler air from outside the engine bay.

My other worry is noise levels as the car also has a 2bular exhaust. It's a bit loud and I'm concerned about it exceeding track day limits.

I'd appreciate any thoughts or comments from others who have similar set ups regarding how they impacted noise levels and possibly mitigated them.

I have the same, I will have to check but I believe there is a hose from the passenger side pod to the air-box.

Air-box does sit to the left, will look tomorrow

Had a quick look on SELOC, yes, there is a duct. Seems like they perish, so worth a look.

A few threads on it if you search for 'S1 intake ducting' with details on where to obtain replacement (if you need it).

Thanks for that. At first glance the top end looks very similar but mine is definitely not connected to the passenger airbox. It terminates low down in the engine bay.

I would send photos but the car is in for a few days for a cambelt change and a bit of recommissioning as it's not done many miles in the last 2-3 years.

Like a carbon trumpet where a flexi joins and runs to the passenger inlet pod.

Mine is definitely missing the final connection to the inlet pod. Currently It terminates at the end of the trumpet, low down in the engine bay. I've got a box of bits that came with the car so will rummage around and see if I can find it. If not, I'll have to contact ITG or scour the internet.

Thank you for taking the time to reply. You've been very helpful and it's appreciated.

No problem at all, hope you sort it without too much hassle. 111S are fantastic little cars, enjoy.

I’m pretty sure you can order the ducting from eliseparts

Morning, the induction flexible tube on my K&N kit rotted out over time.

I replaced it last year with a length of PU flexible (reinforced) ducting I sourced from eBay for a few quid.

Did the job fine and improved the induction note which had been lost overtime with the degradation.

You just have to measure the diameter you are mounting it to. You can get the PU pipe in all different sizes.

Having just replaced the filter; this is what it looks like out of the car.

Gratuitous carbon fibre pic because the weave looked good in the sun.

FAO Mr E

Got your email thanks. As mentioned further up the thread my kit is missing the connection between the trumpet and the air inlet. The image posted by Tickle shows a flexible connection from the trumpet to the air inlet, mine doesn't have this and just terminates at the trumpet.

Will try and post a picture tomorrow.

That looks very different to mine. I presumed the s1 and s2 solution was the same - perhaps I’m mistaken
