Hi - looking for some guidance from you good folks out there ! One of the wheels on my S2 is a little the worse for wear. I've found a place locally which seems to have a great reputation for alloy wheel refurbishment - their advice to me, which sounds sensible, is to do all four wheels at once, to maintain a consistent look at all four corners. I'm happy with this advice and the cost is reasonable.

The only drawback is that I have to take all four wheels off the car and take them to their workshop. I have a copy of the S2 workshop manual (although I'm mechanically inept !) and am aware of where the jacking points under the car are. What is the best way of supporting the car whilst all the wheels are off ? Do I need to buy axle stands of some description ?

Thanks for any help you're able to give !

I'd buy 2 pairs of cheap axle stands from Halfords (£9.99 a pair). You could use bits of wood, but 20 quid seems worthwhile for the extra security.

Obviously axle stands will concentrate the load more, so do make sure that you place them in an appropriate place.

Firstly, the advice they give you about the wheels is spot on - and you will have a huge smile on yoru face whent hey come back brand new on all 4 corners

Regarding the jacking points - obviously you know where they are. My suggestion would be to get 4 x axle stands with bits of wood on top of each one, and place them on (or near) the jacking points. This will be fine for a few days.

Personally I always feel unsure about leaving the car resting on the axles for any period of time so never do it - though it could just be me being picky

Good luck!
