I bought the S1 new six years ago used it as my daily car now 92,500 miles.

Serviced at each 9K interval.

New in Sept 99 S1 used Sun, Rain, Hail, Snow, Ice and Fog.

To date problems worth noting are:
1) 1000 miles - Throttle Body & Rivet for the accelerator spring at 1000 miles (fixed under warranty)
2) Feb 2004 – After visiting www.lotuscars.co.uk Floor well rot (to be fixed under Warranty Oct 25)
3) Nov 2004 84,000 miles Gear selection is as if the gearbox is possessed reverse put into first let out the clutch, still in reverse! (Trying to find out if it is linkage, Clutch or the gearbox). Damn clip fell off 50p.
4) Feb 2005 87,246 HGF - Fixed with the help of AA parts & Labour insurance.
5) July 2005 91,000 Other clip fallen off only 2nd gear. Clip on with cable ties to secure.
6) 92,000 Third Exhaust and 2nd CAT.
7) 92,500 Rear shock for MOT.

Also tyres, 10 rears, 6 fronts, on the third set of disks and the clutch is due soon (original +92,500).

For a 6 month stint did 160 miles a day, not a problem.

Good luck in what ever you do.

Yep, although I do leave the Elise in the summer a few times in the week and take one of the commuter hacks. Likewise, I use the Elise sometimes outside of summer when its dry.

No problems at all. The Elise seems sat up happier than any of my TVRs, past and present.
