Help please: Tyres in Cardiff and MIL light
Discussion
Hi Guys,
A quick quick cry for help for my 111R. Managed to pick up a puncture on the M5 today - so big that you could put your hand in the hole! Anyway, I could not find a local garage that stocked a replacement Bridgestone and so ended up with a cheap (£95 ouch!) get me home tyre. Can anyone recommend somewhere in Cardiff for a replacement Bridgestone Potenza RE040 (as there is only 2500 miles on the remaining good one)?
Also, after the new tyre was put on the MIL light (the yellow light with a picture of the engine in it) has come on continuously - I only noticed this after the tyre was replaced. According to the manual this is something to do with the emissions. Why would this happen after a puncture/tyre change?
Any thoughts gratefully received.
Thanks Mark.

Thanks for the suggestion. I found a bit of time to surf the net and it seems that the Elise tyres are a special variant of the RE040 and that you have to be very careful in ensuring that you have the right one fitted (The tyres only have ~2500 miles of gentle driving on them and so I am reluctant to change both the rears). Still not sure what the warning light is for though.
Thanks again, for the Heath recommendation.

Don't get to stringent on the tyre coding. There are lots of threads around will tell you all about why you must have the right coded re040. The lotus spec tyre has a unique DOT code of dcf. This means it has been made for lotus so generally only available from your dealer. The other DOT code is cfe which is the same tyre for the rest of the world (vx220 etc).
I started to get very anal about getting the right one's but to cut out alot of bs, i talked to a chap at lotus sport. He basically said it didn't matter unless you are a serious track day guy and if you were use something else other than bridgestone.

Found the specific Lotus version of the tyre on blackcircle easy enough but it was a bit cheaper on etyres.co.uk. I'll probably go with the specific Lotus one for the moment as I am only changing one tyre and then not worry so much when I change the pair.
MIL light has now decided to switch off so fingers crossed it was nothing too important!
Cheers
