I’ve seen a 2002 S2 for sale that I’m interested in buying but it’s hardly done any miles in the past 10 years and has been in dry storage for at least 5 of those years. It has been used in the past year and done about 1k miles. What do I need to pay attention to when I go to take a look and test drive?

Apologies if this has been covered, I did a quick search and couldn’t find a similar topic.

One would like to think that that those 1k miles done over the past year would have flagged anything up to its current owner that has been sorted by now.

Either way, I would pay attention to anything rubber which can get a bit brittle without use. This will be felt in the handling but will require inspection elsewhere.

Others will have a better insight on the engine but as for everything else, it's aluminium and plastic so little to worry about on the corrosion front!

Rubber can perish, hoses etc, tyres are probably too old now so will maybe need 4.
If its perfectly dry storage i wouldnt worry too much, may be due a good service and brake fluid change.
Battery worth asking about just because its another expense really and you want to try to factor these things into your offer.
Check the paintwork thoroughly for signs of blistering as this could get expensive if you choose to paint it.
