I thinking of picking up an Elise S1 but found a MG dealers with an S2 with 8k mils for £14k this sounds cheap to me.

It is worth a look, if it is a very early one with out any of the optional extra's it might not be so far off the mark. Is it posted on the web ?

worth a look...does seem cheap for a dealer - maybe they took it as p/x and ripped the previous owner off.....Id make sure it wasnt cat D etc - if its straight then its a bargain....

Great news if you want a overweight mistress. If you want a nimble, lithe, original one then go for the S1.

Just my humble opinion

Does sound good value if the miles are correct. I'd suspect the service history isn't Lotus but that wouldn't put me off at all. As long as there's proof it's been serviced then that's fine. It's only done 8k after all.

Yeah if you can't afford the S2 go for the S1 and then pretend it was all about the dynamics.

Excellent price for the spec, I'd doubt a dealer would sell a Cat D but worth checking. If it's all clear snap it up. With traders you have some comeback.

you very occassionally get cars like this - the dealer simply doesn't know the going rate for the car.

there was one up here in glasgow and murry lotus managed to get to it before me - was up for sale at £15k for a 2002 model in a normal dealers then up for £19k in murry the following week!!

hpi check it then buy it quick

It appears the Elise has a new front clam as is unrecorded.

It looks like a very early S2, long roof (sports tourer spec maybe?). Price seems about right.

...BUT at that kind of money you'd be a fool not to check out a decent Series 1 Sport 160, 111S etc also to see what your money buys you performance-wise.

The big question is what do you want it for and what are your priorities?
