Hi all.

I bought a 2019 exige v6 with the forged wheels but sadly they didn't come with any TPMS sensors fitted. I obviously need them for its first MOT.
I've been asking my lotus dealer who seem clueless on the subject.

So my questions are,

1, Is there a suitable aftermarket sensor i can buy ? - i have seen a few by searching.
2, Do they learn from driving or do i need a dealer to link the sensors somehow?

thanks in advance.

The TPMS should be the same as for Saab 9-3 and 9-5 models, so best google an aftermarket solution for those, e.g. https://www.tpmsbargains.com/Saab-9-3-TPMS-Sensor-...

Lotus parts no should be A121G6000F

As to the interaction of the sensors with the car, maybe someone else can comment? My first guess would be that the function needs to be activated via the car's diagnostic software - otherwise it would constantly whine that the tyre pressure is incorrect?

Can't tell as my car came without TPMS. It actually should have come with it but the previous owner must have had it removed. Maybe try the MOT as is and it will be no issue (small series purpose built sports car, benevolent MOT tester etc etc)

You would need the TPMS module as well as the four sensors - it usually lives under the passenger side of the dashboard on a 2019 Exige, and the car's instrument pack would need to be coded to respond to the TPMS module's CAN signal.

Why are they needed for an MOT?

Is it something to do with OE for the car? Like ABS for instance.

I'm no expert. Can't see how it really makes a difference for an MOT.

Not needed for an MOT as long as there is no fault light.

I've actually had my TPMS disabled. It's more trouble than it's worth.

Sounds like i need a dealer to do the rescan frown

the car would have come from the factory with the module and all working. Things changed when the owner changed the wheels. Does that mean the instrument pack and CAN module are working correctly and don't need coding ? If thats the case, what required to get the wheel sensors working to the module ?
