Cam Belt Change for S1
Discussion
Hi Guys,
I have an S1 111S which has just had its 6th birthday and covered 37k miles, but has yet to have a "C" service.
Couple of questions,
1) Should I be looking to change the cam belt or wait for the normal sevice interval?
2) Any suggestions for getting it changed around the Bath / Bristol area, i.e. not the Lotus main dealer.
Many thanks
Dave

There is a lot of discussion about this but the concensus is that Lotus altered the interval such that the C Service, or more specifically a cam belt change should happen at the forth service interval i.e the one you are approaching.
Given the consequences of a belt failure it is best to get it done

My S2 was serviced in April, its 3 year anniversary. The guys at Snclaires to check if it was 3 or 4 years old as the new guidance from Lotus is to do the cam belt change in the fourth year not the 5th or 6th as in the manuals. As its a K Series I assume this applies to all variants.
If its almost 6 years i would get it seen to pronto regardless. Most mechanics would recommend changing it every 3 or 4 years at max.
Just my 2p - its better to be safe than sorry!
