Just picked my Elise back up from the garage after 2 weeks of driving the GF's 106. Put in a bad mood by being landed with a bill for a little over a grand inc VAT and ask myself why on earth I would spend so much money on a car. My mind turns to selling the car on and buying a cheap MX5 to smoke around in for a while.

....And then I get in the car, turn the keys, hear the booming exhaust and drive off. Instantaneously I forget all about the bill and feel 100% better about myself.

Why is it that we can find ourselves so attached to what is basically a piece of metal & fibregalss?

God I love my car. Sad innit!

Nope you're perfectly normal. It's the others who are wierd not us

Congratulations on getting the car back - I know how crap it is to be without it for a long period of time.

Plenty of is what's called for to get yourself back in the groove!

it's that feeling of escapism that a car gives, I get a similar feeling listening to music, letting emotions float away and living for the moment there and then

Tonight I fell in love with my car again for about the thousandth time... roof off, at dusk, absolutely pegging it across Kent on some classic twisty A and B-roads, stereo blasting.

Just f***ing fantastic.

I totally agree, there are some 'special' moments you have with your car that re-kindle your love of the machines! Even have those moments hooning along the new A130 in Essex in my 172, not quite an Elise but when its in its stride its a quick car....and will hopefully be replaced by Elise/Exige in not too distant....

Its an amazing feeling not being able to drive your car for a while then getting back in it and putting it through its paces

Is it a Cup dank? If so I can completely understand why. A mate had one once, brilliant hot hatch.

There are many ways to handle a car, so it is satifying .
There are two ways to handle a woman, but nobody knows either of them.

I've been separated from my S1 for 4 months now, but in 3 weeks I'm back, Kent B roads at dusk with the roof off, is the way forward!
