Clutch release arm sticking?
Discussion
Took the S1 for a service and dealer said the clutch release arm was sticking. I cannot feel any issues with the gearchange or drive - what are the symptoms of this arm sticking??
Wasn't worried at all as a new arm is only £40 but then found out the gearbox needs to be dropped to do it!

If you don't have any problems selecting gears with the engine running or the clutch slipping or a squeaking noise when operating the clutch I wouldn't worry about it. They can become stiff over time and also due to lack of use, Eliseparts sell one with a lubrication point fitted to it so that it can be lubricated periodically. As you have discovered it requires the gearbox to be removed in order to replace it so is more cost effective to do with a clutch change. If you are experiencing any of the symptoms that I have mentioned you could try lubricating the release arm with a bit of PTFE based grease but it is a bit tricky to get access to it and will only fix the problem temporarily.

Thanks for your post. Yes, will keep an eye/ear on it as for now all seems fine.Gassing Station | Elise/Exige/Europa/340R | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
