my car's got a few rattles what i want to try and track down over the next week or so. there's a rattling from the drivers side, possbily the door or something behind me. the door doesn't appear to be slack tho!? any ideas? sounds like a lose panel sor something - like it's not a heavy sound if that makes sense?!

also the passengers window stops just shy of the roof and that'll let in water - have to take that to bits and see if i can move the window up a tad - drivers side is fine tho.

I have an occasional rattle/graty/grindy sound from about shoulder height in the engine bay (or at least it sounds like there - possibly towards the passenger side - it only does it at about 2100 to 2200 revs, so tends to be very brief just as you go up and down the gears, but if you hold the revs, it keeps the resonance going

Its quite annoying - anyone else had it and if so, what was it?

Door striker pin is too small, just put some tape round it to make it thicker.

For the window height.

check the roof clicks into the window frame properly. If the plastic end comes off the roof securing spindles it appears to fit properly but is shy 5 mm from the side window. If they are missing they are not replacable from lotus. fabricate them or get what ever you can close to it.

will pop out and check now. so the end of the pin should be mushroom shaped? is that right? so not just a dowel pin?

well my roof has a black fixed pin about 10mm diameter and a metal sliding pin with a white plastic end that's about 4mm diameter. the end of the white plastic bit is chamfered in a little - should this have a mushroom like head on it?

I'm starting to think this is probably a catalytic converter falling apart in the exhaust system as it has a metallic-y resonant tone and I have had the cat all of, ooh a year and a half so knowing my luck it will need replacing. Cat technology quite simply doesn't work, the slightest bit of unburnt fuel and they explode, and are far too expensive to keep replacing like this. Sod it, I'm getting a straight-through pipe instead - (not that that is too bad a result, cheaper and noisier - all good!)
