Hi,
Have seen a few people mentioning cat bypass pipes and there are a few on ebay quite cheap, but what do they actually do?
Presume its more power/or noise, but does it affect mpg or anything like that? I know they prob have to be removed to pass the mot?
Thanks for any info.

more noise...slight power (maybe 1-2bhp) ..thats it really....it only really becomes restrictive over 200bhp so I wouldnt bother unless you want the noise...then of course you struggle to get on track days etc

i belive you'll fail your MOT if you don't have the cat on. i was going to buy one with a sports exhaust and cat but the owner didn't have the standard exhaust or cat and therefore i'd have problems getting it MOT'd unless i wanted to fork out a fortune for a replacement standard system which would be fitted for a whole 1 day a year!

bought a standard car - it's plenty noisey as it is

go for it - they sound great!, just make sure that you keep the original cat to swap over every year or find a friendly mot station.
