Please help me make a decision on this, it's doing my head in... The cost is roughly the same for both exhausts although the labour is more for Stage2 as they cut the tray... The dealer will be happy to fit the Quicksilver so no problems there... SO, which one...? The Qsilver appears to add some throttle response - does the Stage2 offer any performance increase? However, my initial requirement was for the car to sound great so if the QSilver sounds nowhere near as good, Stage2 it is... I know there's a sound clip of the Qsilver on the H11 site but it's not great... Then there's also Davey's clip to compare but...

HELP!

I must admit I havent heard the Quicksilver so cant comment but I am very very happy with the Stage 2.

Its has transformed the car and sounds fantastic, not just the level of noise but the tone as well. It makes the car sound so much better than a 1.8 litre 4 pot has the right to.

The throttle response has improved and it also looks the business with just a small length of the pipes coming out of the diffuser.

Also it takes away any possibility of arguments about the impact on the warranty as its a Lotus part

The best clip of the noise is on Luca Brazi's VMAX film on Pistonheads TV. Its a big file as it lasts for 40 minutes and I have emailed him to see if he can do a small clip of just my car but if you have good broadband download it and have a listen. Its 29 minutes 30 seconds into the film and is a fly by at 140+ MPH

Interesting, Twinpipe rode shotgun with me on sunday. He has an S2 Exige with a stage 2 which melts my knees (and the wifes!). He pointed out that with my standard exhaust you get to hear the engine do the work instead of the exhaust. Nice to hear but it wont stop me going for a stage 1.

Eventually when I get some time I will be heading for some tracks and the stage 2 is a bit loud for most circuits.

Now the Stage1 is back in the equation! Would be cheaper as well... Not sure how much the Stage1 improves on the standard exhaust? I read a post from somebody who said they couldn't tell the difference...

Stage 1 would sound ok with an ITG which does a huge amount in bringing some nice noise into the cabin rather than outside.

Price wise I dont think there is a lot in it.

Quicksilver, sounds awesome, thats what we have on ours and there is also a noticeable difference to the torque on low revs. For a second opinion email tvrbob, he heard it if full voice at Croft today

What about a custom exhaust such as the Torque Tecnics version in Salisbury. Fantastic sound, full stainless and excellent value for money - didnt come across a cheaper exhaust when I was looking.

Mick isnt really a web sort of bloke and er I did spell the name of his company very wrong.

Here are the details:

Torque Technique
01722 744747
The Avenue
Wilton
Salisbury
SP2 0BT

Mick Poulton is the guy - very down to earth and wont mess you about.

I dont have a sound clip unfortunatly but Gooby, Just 1 and Twinpipe have heard it and might be able to describe the sound compared to larini etc.
