Keo’s 410 20th Anniversary
Discussion
Hi everyone where to start I never thought I would end up doing this.... I bought a 981 GT4 last year. Stunning looking car, red carbon bucket seats a really nice spec. First Porsche, first 6 cylinder engine etc so a big box ticked.
Being completely honest I never really gelled with it. Although reasonable for the car that it was I suppose I always thought running costs tyres/ brakes etc would be expensive. It was always a bit numb to drive. So after 11 months i moved it on I definitely thought it was the right time in the current market. That went last Friday.
It had to be a Lotus/ Caterham next. But I discounted the Caterham as just not useable enough. Me and the mrs like days out/ weekends away etc. I thought an Exige would tick all the boxes and would be slightly different as never had one before.(I have had a VX220 T and a 111R in the past)
So lots of reading on here and talking to owners. Thanks Paul M3! Really have helped. A rivera blue car came up for sale but they didn’t have pics. So I phoned Silverstone and they sent me some. It looked stunning. But at this time (Thursday) I didn’t have funds I didn’t want to do anything until GT4 had gone.
I went Oakmere Lotus on Monday. I looked at a silver 410 looked a nice car and the blue interior made it stand out. Although a few reasons it wasn’t for me. They let me drive a 350 though. This confirmed an Exige was the right move. I got hone and phoned Silverstone to arrange a viewing on the blue car. It had sold Saturday and had just been picked up... I got the impression you need to move fast for the right car.
Tuesday I spotted a previously discounted car. A brand new Exige 20th Anniversary. I didn’t want or ever wanted a brand new car. But finding out it’s 1/100 and 1/25 in orange. I loved the seats as the padding is orange to match the car. I thought about all the added new car bonuses you get and it was well priced compared to some I had seen. Plus the fact nice cars seem to be selling quickly it wasn’t that much more expensive...
So off to Bradford me and the mrs went. It’s about a 2 hour drive for us but that didbt bother me in the slightest. As soon as I saw the car I thought I have got to have it. The salesman didn’t usually sell Lotus’s he was covering for the normal lotus salesman. But he was great and a pleasure to deal with. Not your typical car salesman.
Delivery can’t be achieved until 27th October. I am having it delivered to a local PPF/ detailing place (Signature group a few friends have been and can’t fault it) I am still contemplating what package to go for but I think I may have the entire car done in PPF. So it will be another week then until I can drive it!
So sold GT4 Friday bought a new Exige Tuesday. Wtf have I done! But me and my mates say “No time for games”... haha.
Quite excited now. If anyone has any tips or help at all it would be appreciated I have never bought a new car before. Running in the engine etc
I have tried to post a few pics but I couldn’t get them to work. Sorry to ramble on and a big thanks to Paul for talking me through exiges (I also read a lengthy thread on another blue 410 that the owner does lots of track days in ecain maybe? I forgot the poster but that was very useful as well!)
All the best and I will keep this updated.

congrats, sounds good, I guess you tried uploading them from your computer direct in this thread?
if that works, then you can put many more in the same posting by following the same way you did post your first picture (repeat same)
it can be that your pictures are to big/heavy to many MB, so then you need a free program on your PC to make them 'smaller/lighter' I use IrfanView, its a easy program, its free and you simple can make a big picture from say 45mb to 1mb or 10mb and then you can post them.
also curious what you think of the difference in driving feel, between a Porsche 981 GT4 vs Lotus Exige V6

I upload the photo to thumbsnap and then use the image tags. I press post I get an error message “406 forbidden”

GT4 vs Exige no comparison the GT4 is a better car and it is stunning. But the Exige is more exciting and a lot more of a toy you need to drive it. My mum could of jumped into the GT4 and drove it easily. Lovely car but I just didn’t find it exciting.
Just getting into a Lotus sets you up for driving. Everything feels razor sharp with it being so light. The steering feel the best I have experienced. But because it’s not so refined 50mph feel like 100mph. GT4 100mph felt like 50mph.
I have always found you don’t need to be going fast to enjoy a Lotus. Needed to push on to some quite frankly ridiculous speeds to get some excitement out of GT4. It sounded pretty good though.

Good explanation, I understand what you say, its so 'good' you have to drive way faster to get the same happy feeling.
Also have such within the same brand, say comparing a Z3 coupe 3.0 vs a Z4 coupe 3.0, drove both, although the Z4 coupe is 'better' (except some strange steering at some points) you have to drive higher speeds to get the same 'kicks' or driving-fun.
so yes, a GT4 is could be good/best specially when you go Max attack and or going for fast times on a track, but when you drive mostly in and around town or over some nice steering roads were you go not to the Max, there are other drivers cars that give you way more driving-fun at lower speeds.
I remember having a TVR Griffith 4.3 BV and when driving slow say 30-50km/h or behind other cars etc, and still having fun, because of the vibrations and big V8 sound etc, such car gives plenty, its not a race car or fast track car, non of that, but it gives lots of telling's (good and bad lol) its there and gives you the feeling you drive something 'special, also without braking the speed limits.
also, thats very Orange, cheer up Max verstappen with the Dutch Fan's and or Mclaren of course :-)

Few ups and downs but I collected the car a few weeks ago. I went with full ppf, ceramic coating and interior protection in the end.
I have done about 420 miles so far. I love it but the weather is rubbish so can’t find time to enjoy it. I think I can get pictures to wirk now. The ppf place sent me these

I think I may have seen your car at JCT when I went to look at the Emira. It looked fantastic in the flesh and if it’s a keeper a wise move to go with full PPF.I have done about 420 miles so far. Thank you! I was worried the colour was to bright but I do love it. Yes I think it’s going to be a keeper. For the money or even more nothing else really interests me. I thought about a gt3 but I didn’t like my gt4 much. I think I am just a Lotus fan boy being honest haha!

Nice car Gibbo! I can’t say how fast mine is yet as still running it in and I haven’t driven it much because of the weather. Is it your first Lotus?
Yes mate this is my first. The dealership let me test drive an Evora GT 410 sport and another Exige 410 regular.
My car has 2000 miles and I have to say it feels exceptionally strong, much faster than the Evora felt and it feels as good if not a tad stronger than the 410 I drove. But weather is cooler now and I've thrown Vpower in it so could all account for that.
But 2nd and 3rd gear have insane acceleration, first gear just lights the tyres up.
Need to drive it more, like you cold wet day today, so I am in the Aston as its got heated seats, but rest of week looks dry so will be bringing the Lotus out. Hoping to take it Donnington on 3rd December for a track day if weather plays ball.
I had a run out in the car Monday and went around the Peak District, had some breakfast with the mrs in Matlock bath. Car has done 560 miles, once it has done 600 miles I can start giving it a few more revs!
Also saw a stunning purple TVR Sagaris we both flashed and waved so if you are on here hello!

I took my car for it’s running in service last week. I went to the supplying dealer they had two 430 cups in. They looked nice and I like the extra carbon. The Mrs wanted me to swap for one of them as it had red wheels! But being honest I love mine. They also had a brand new 410 for sale for more money than I paid for my car. So maybe prices are on the up? Not that I am bothered as I aren’t selling and this isn’t the Porsche forum...
I haven’t been able to use full revs yet but looking forward to lots of driving now the better weather should be coming.
Last Saturday it got evicted from the garage as I serviced my daily A3 and fitted a new oil level sender. I hated the A3 when I first got it. Numb and boring. But I have had it six years this year and I have done about 110k miles init. It is running better than ever after the service and I have cracked 60mpg on my slow drive home a few afternoons on the m6 this week. Not bad for 175k miles. It’s like a comfy pair of old slippers. Seams pointless to replace it with an expensive car just to sit on the motorway. I’d like a bmw 3/4/5/6 series next I think (can’t make my mind up!)
But then I think if I was spending that much on a car I’d keep the A3 and add a caterham!

I went up to JCT last week to have a look at the 2 430's as i'm trying to decide if it's an itch i need to scratch and was surprised at how good the red wheels looked in the flesh but the body colour needs to be more exciting. If the black one had gold wheels it would also lift the car.I had a quick drive of their 410 demonstrator but the roads close to the dealership were not too good but the car felt very good.I haven’t been able to use full revs yet but looking forward to lots of driving now the better weather should be coming.

The orange looks great and it looks like you are enjoying the car and i don't think you would regret adding a Caterham.
