Hi, I’m thinking about a 350 s , what are these like for reliability. I know they are a low volume hand built car, so I’m expecting a few niggles. But are there any major issues with engine or gearbox.

Thanks

Toyota engine and gearbox, and supremely reliable. The bits which are the most unreliable are actually the Lotus bits!

Lots Of Trouble Usually Serious Stupid!

They're reliable machines but can have little niggles like a loose bit of trim or sticky fuel filler cap, nothing serious nowadays.

door locks sticking has affected a few people, bit generally, pretty good.

Have previously owned a sport 350 and now own a 430CUP. I had no issues with my 350 and in 6k miles and 2.5 years with the 430 only a spanner sign that needed clearing by B&C. Seem to be very simple cars, not a lot to go wrong. Servicing is cheap for the performance, they don't use much fuel and the light weight means they are very easy going on consumables. I have heard of issues on some cars but usually preceded by over revs or a missed gear change etc. They are mostly very heavily tracked cars and survive very well.
