Reasons to overtake the car in front..

Apart from the fact that they are in front....
The car in front has Volvo or Renault or Citroen written across the back
There is a panama / straw hat on the rear parcel shelf.
There is a "25" sticker in the back window.
In between you and the car in front, there is a caravan.
Eh, dont knock the Renault... My parents have one, but there other car is a Noble. So never under estimate!!

Normally because its an old woman doing 30mph then brakes when a car comes the other way
Aaaagghhh - that is so annoying couldn't agree more.
Or the other one I find more and more recently on back roads of Berkshire/Oxforshire is doo-gooders driving around open roads at 30mph where the speed limit is 40, 50+.
I can only imagin that that these zombies are so used to inappropriate 30mph speed limits they now assume all roads are now 30mph.
Then you get the flashing lights and fists in the air when you overtake at the speed limit (well ish
). Another clasic this weekend I was out by Henley with my Brother single track road doing about 30, big Range Rover comes the other way doesn't even slow down, bloke in front gives us hand signals indicating we're going to fast - what a joke. In this case we have 2 evils in 1 - 4x4 bully + to posh to wave a thank-you for giving way. Grrrr. Overtake them all!
Took the wife to a restaurant the other day. As usual I parked as close to our table as possible so I can keep an eye on the car (Paranoid).
A group came in and sat down on the next table and started to mumble about fast cars and how they should be banned for going over 60mph and how angry they he (the driver) gets if he is overtaken.
All through the meal, I was mumbling and the wife stopped me having a quiet word with the numpties.
One day I will overtake the morons...

On the other hand got caught up some boy racers in an old M5 the other week. Their driving was extremely aggressive. This really made me stop and think how offensive to other road users aggressive driving can be.
Being able to overtaking is great, but I sincerely like to think I do it only where appropriate and always without aggression.

In the most part I don't drive with aggression, I'm very careful at speed and rarely go near speeds where I can get tugged (frankly I don't feel the need, especially after the recent slow speed stack).
But (and there's always a but!), some m*ther
ers just get right up my nose...
- Middle lane morons
- Caravans/Tractors/Slow drivers who REFUSE to pull over even though they have a trail of 8 million cars behind them
- People who drive with blinkers on (i.e. absolutely no awareness of what's going on apart from the 20feet of road directly in front of them)
- @rseholes who sit in the outside lane when they are not overtaking anyone and then refuse to pull over when you approach at a higher speed.
The first and the last are of particular annoyance (if I start on the second today I'll never stop).
With ref. to the latter, example one was on the A23 a week ago. I approached a small hatchback (with 5 occupants) at approx the NSL for the road, with clear inside lane. I was moving faster but braked and held position approx. 2 lamp-post's distance behind (roughly the 2 second rule). After about 3 minutes of clearly waiting to get past I switched on my headlights (dipped beam) to tray and raise awareness of my position, I saw the driver glance in his/her r-v-mirror and then carry on. So I gave a single flash, and indicated right (common language of the autobahn, basically saying "coming through, please move over"
. Still nothing, in fact the numptie then accellerated to a speed far in excess of safety and I guess almost at the limit of the cars performance.
What do you do here? That idiot put the entire car at risk because they didn't want to get overtaken - what a c*ck.
Same thing happened on the way back from Ipswich once on the A12. Morons.

.
You overtake. His driving is putting others at risk and he has made that decision. If I was a passanger I would tell him to grow up!

Agreed - but what irks me almost as much is how traffic bunches up behind them, and then won't frickin' well overtake them when there's a chance to do so. So then you have to go screaming down the outside of 'x' number of cars to get past. Invariably one then gets brave and makes a break for the border just as you're approaching making you have to chuck out the anchors just to avoid driving up and over them.
New Traffic Law proposal? "Any vehicle causing a tailback on a single carriageway road of more than 5 vehicles must pull over at the first available safe opporunity and let them past before proceeding."

Ahhhh, if only life were that simple mate...
Option A) Back off and let them get on with it
Option B) Back off, pull into inside lane, drop it a cog until bang on cam, then perform short, sharp display of what "performance" actually translates to in a proper car.
Pick again dude.
