Had the Stage 2 put on yesterday and just got back in from a great run through Usk & Monmouth with the South Wales Club.

Its loud. With the ITG its a lot louder than my old S1 with K&N Filter and Eliseparts exhaust.

It sounds fantastic though. A really nice pitch. It seems to be louder on the first cam at 4-6K revs. On second cam you get a louder induction roar with some exhaust overtones mixed in. Not sure what it would be like with a standard air box.

There is a bit of resonance and droning at motorway speeds but nothing serious. It might get on your tit5 if you do a lot of motorway miles but if not its fine.

Also get some nice pops and bangs on overrun which sounds good.

My cameraman Steff 'Spielberg' Lewis will be taking some video clips of the car at Bruntingthorpe on Sunday so I will post them on Pistonheads TV.

Thanks for the info.
Do you have an experience of listening a Stage 1? How they compare?
Waiting for the video.

I have a stage 1 with ITG and it is a nice improvement over standard giving a good noise albeit not stupidly loud, induction roar is more noticable on the secound cam whihc makes the car feel hungrier...

I got a wee tour in an R with a Stage2 and it sounds great. But the driver was telling me he has to wear ear plugs on the motorway. He took it from Dundee to Norwich for a service...... any excuse to drive i guess

Twinpipe has a stage 2 on his Exige and it sounds GREAT. The only problem is that it is too loud for most tracks.

Getting a stage 1 because of this.

The one I test drove had Pipercross induction and the Stg. 2. Feckin', feckin' loud both at idle and on the road.

At full chat on the 2nd cam it sounded like someone was ripping the sky apart!

It is great mate. The only downside is the fact it is too loud for most trackdays (including Combe which only 40 minute drive for me)

Think I will be buying some ramps and just have to spend a few hours swapping the 'zorsts over every now and again.

Things start to be more clear for me. stage 2 is not for me. Stage 1 does not give extra hp... so it is only ear "pleasure"
But ITG seems to give hp (How much????) and better sound, maybe it is the best solution. Reactions?

PS off topic but new pic of my car in my profile

If its just a nice interior noise you want the ITG is superb. Inside the cabin it sounded great on mine even with the standard exhaust.

With the Stage 2 on though it just all sounds fantastic.

I'm fitting a quicksilver exhaust to replace the stage one at the weekend. Anyone want a cheap stage 1

Hi Fish, why did you change? What are the differences between the 2?

Fantastic Davey...I'm going to be at Bruntingthorpe this Sunday too so be good to meet you and see your car (not running my Elise...kinda pointless...coming along with Jeremy in his DB7).

If I may, I'll try and get out with you too - I've never been in an Exige before (it's a good thing, my bank account wouldn't like it).

Thanks
Tony

Tony.

No problem mate. Come and say hello. Your welcome to have a drive if you want. See if we can tempt you over to the dark side!

I changed mainly from an I was bored front but I just wanted it a little louder but not to the stage 2 level.

I understand the quicksilver is a sort of stage 1.3 type exhaust.

We will see anyway. The stage 1 is good though.

Are we talking about the Lotus stage 2 here? If so, I'm a bit hesitant about fitting one to my 111R as:

1. Its ugly (in my opinion).
2. It means cutting the undertray.

I was thinking about a Quicksilver, but I want something that sounds the part. It seems that the QS, while it looks good may not be what I'm looking for. Comments welcome......

Its not ugly. The pipes on the Stage 2 are more subtle as they only project about an inch out of the undertray and point straight down rather than back.

When up close they are a lot more agressive than the pipes on the standard exhaust. More drain pipes than pea shooters.

Dont worry about cutting the undertray. It doesnt need much and your dealer will have a template to cut out the bigger holes. You can always go back to a Stage 1 or the standard box anyway and you wont notice the difference.

It really does sound the business.

NEWS UPDATE

I fitted the quicksilver supersport on the 111r this am and am absolutely delighted. The build quality is good and it was easy enough to fix.

I have an ITG and had a stage 1. The new exhaust is supurb it is alot meater at idle and freeflowing than the stage 1, throttle response is slightly better and there is definately more low down torque. It sounds brilliant and is abit noiser than I thought it would be.

probebly the best money I have spent on any of my cars and well worth it. In summary I would say the stage 1 is how the car should sound rather than a gerbil farting through a Mcdonalds straw and I can't deny it is good, however if you want alot more purposeful and racy sound which is quite loud the quicksilver it is.

Edited to say I'm no longer feeling comfortable on passing the 99db test at Donnington though!!

After thrapping mine at VMAX today I'm no longer feeling comfortable about passing a noise test anywhere.

Vids to follow but noise wise the Stage 2 with ITG held its own against a Tubi equipped 360.

Nice to meet Tony today as well
