I got tantalisingly close with a search of the group lotus site. And I quote ...
'The Lotus Elise range has just become better with the introduction of the Sport 160, an additional model aimed at those drivers who love to rev their engines hard. The Sport 160 is powered by a Lotus-developed 160PS (118kW) version of the standard 1.8-litre K series engine, specially tuned to unleash the bulk of its firepower at the top end of the rev range.
This new engine derivative, coupled with the Elise’s extraordinarily light 770 kg kerb weight, further enhances the supercar-crushing performance of the little Lotus in real-world terms – 0-62mph (100km/h) in under 5 secs, and 0-100mph (160km/h) in an astonishing ?.?secs. Top speed is ???mph. Point-to-point, this powerful new version of the agile Elise should prove all but uncatchable, even by sports cars costing several times as much.'
Much more including the ?.? can be found here.

Have a look here www.elises.co.uk/models/index.html.
The 111S is 14.4 to 100, but I can't find a time for the 160S.

Not that its either of the 2 cars mentionned but in my Bell and Colvil 160 I did a 14.45 1/4 with a terminal of 97mph on Sunday. Real world and not test driver times so didnt kill the clutch and run with a dribble of fuel, as per the magazine figures...
I have to say that's pretty poor. Don't know whether that's down to you or the B&C conversion (NOI) but I could run times that like in my standard S1 without killing the clutch.
I would expect the Sport 160 to have a 0-100 time of about 13.8-13.9 secs in standard trim.
Its worth pointing out that they don't put out anywhere near 160 bhp as standard tho.
I have just finished some porting work on a 160 head for Paul Wakinshaw and along with an emerald and some verniers (which I timed to 80/60 LATDC) it made 172 bhp and runs sweet as a nut.

I never said it gave out 160 bhp
I thought it best to mention my car wasnt standard.
Cuzza ran his standard elise this year and last year and consistantly got 14.8 - 14.9. Cuzza sprints his car and is competitive in those sprints so I would hazard a guess that he isnt a poor driver.
Have you actually been down a dragstrip? Or is this pub talk and figures from the back of autocar?? The surface is usually slippery as
. Running on Sunday was in 30 degree heat.
As a comparison, a Cosworth Escort couldnt get inside 15 seconds. Its not as easy as it is on GT4.

As I stated, no offence was intended and I made no mention of the power output of your car. I was commenting on the factory 160s.
I only commented as I thought it was a bit of a misleading comparison.
Yes I have been down a drag strip. I do not do pub talk. I deal only in facts.
My intention was not to get anyone's back up. I was simply trying to add something to the thread.
I dont think there is any need to get all defensive about your 1/4 mile times and make excuses. I was not having a go at you.
If I have offended please accept my most humble apologies.

either I have lost the ability to read or you have lost the ability to remember. Where did you quote that?
I thought I would contribute to the thread by adding figures from Sundays officially times drag racing. Not from a book like 99% of 0-60, 0-100 and 1/4 mile times come from.
I didnt make excuses, I dont need to. By the 60 foot time for both Cuzza and myself I am quite happy the driving input was not any worse than average. (I assume your 60 foot times are sub 2 seconds?). After that element of driver skill its down to the cars output.
If anything, I was impressed by the standard cars 14.8 time. That was quicker than the Chimaeras, a number of Cosworths and Subarus and Evos. But then I expect they were all driven by retards as well....

Judging by the smell of clutch when the Evos etc were running I'd say you're spot on!

Just adding no offence intended doesn't excuse comments like that when you don't know the facts. On that track (a very slippery runway used once a year) a 14.4 is a very good time for an Elise, as Shnozz says, I was in the 14.8s all the previous day even with a 2 second 60ft time and a terminal speed of 90mph. However, the previous year I was in the 14.7s with about a 2.2 60ft time and a terminal speed of 97mph. I can only put this down to the headwind and the Elises aero package or lack thereof. Pretty poor all in all.
Dan, what did you run in your standard car?
Hi, I have a factory Sport 160. It got a few mods, check my profile. In standard form is kicks out 150bhp. To get the full 160, you need to remove the double airbox and 2 filters and replace with a sport variant. I have a full induction kit on mine with a 100mm cold air pipe cooming from the side hole. To get the full power the cat needs to be removed. I have a motorsport high flow road legal one on mine, that way it passes the MOT. The first 50 sport 160 came with not cat and a modified air box. A leaflet comes with the car stating the difference between the 160 and the 111s. Around a track the 160 will do it about 1.5 seconds quicker. I know that the standard car is 4.9 -60mph. 0-100, well I have raced a Series 2 exige and we were level all the way to a 120 !
I would estimate it to be about 14 secs dead on. the exige is 13.5 I think... The main difference over the standard engine is that the revs keep going up to 7500rpm which is just so much better. The 160 does run rough and isnt so good round town. I have had mine fully re-timed and it runs perfect now. A must for any 160!

Its not right
I'd start by changing the temp sensor Blue one for the stack and brown for the ECU. Only about a tenner each.

111s' are 2-a-penny (Puts on flame suit, laces up Nike's, lights blue touchpaper, opens can of worms etc.)
