Exige Cup430 - Future Classic ?
Discussion
With only in region of 30 UK registered Cup 430’s plus 1 or 2 which the dealers have in stock is this car heading towards classic status or at least be very sought after
In the future.
It appears to me that it will even if it was/is overpriced new.
Not wishing to denigrate the 410 at all which is a great car in its own right, but Cup cars are iconic within Lotus circles and with only a couple of used examples for sale now very very rare.
It does bode well for anyone who owns one or is thinking of getting one.

It would be nice to think so but I wouldn't hold your breath (although I hope you are right)...as with any ICE car...not only is the world going mad but as part of this we are being brainwashed into to thinking the only future is EV...never mind the considerations of power generation, mineral extraction, manufacturing emissions, lifetime emissions, world supply of copper for cabling, oh and battery technology. Not saying that polluting the environment is acceptable but EV tech has a very long way to go before it is viable...so I am contradicting my first statement??
Guess petrol will be available on a forecourt basis for 10-15 years (UK) and it is likely that it will be replaced with a far greener synthetic type fuel. At which point in this time frame the 430 Cup will become more desirable is questionable. I remember a big recession in collectors car values in the late 90`s so I`m sure it will happen again, when interest rates rise...

It’s a great car whatever happens,I was very keen on one but couldn't see the £20k uplift against a 410 sport being worth it as the 410 is so good
Fully concur, the 430 was overpriced but prices now seem to have stabilised at £80-85k used. Most will opt for a 420/410 at that price though I guess
The sole black & gold Type 79 sold a few months ago at Octane Collection for more than list. There was 1 RHD type 49, 1 RHD type 79 and think 10 RHD type 25's that form part of the 35 or so cars.
I can't see any 430 CUP dropping much, they will now always be the halo Exige, they are never making more. I won't ever sell my Type 49 so to me the value doesn't really matter they are awesome cars. I think many are in long term ownership so the issue will be finding one, if you want one, in the spec / colour you want, which will prop up used values. Only 3 for sale now, one new at £113,000 and 2 used at £85,000
I listened to Sam Moore's car chat podcast yesterday, he was with Tim Burton and said "Tell me where I can buy a new, manual, 500bhp, 1,100 kilo car and I will do it" That just about sums up an Exige with a little help from Komotec you are there. Youtube is full of positive reviews on all Exiges.

This was my thinking too, but the 430 will always be “the one to have” especially type 49 or 79Paul’s type 49 is the best Exige in my view. Stunning car.

The 430CUP is the LT / RS / Speciale / Pista of the Exige. It may not be much quicker in the same way a 911 GT3RS is not much quicker than a GT3, if at all if you watch the drag times videos, but its the 'halo' car. If the additional premium for a 430CUP is within budget then its a no brainer. If its not then no one would be disappointed with any Exige, they are all amazing cars.
