I ordered some bits yesterday lunchtime and they have just arrived now - great service.

Cheers Paul, just spoke to them and none in stock!!
Its at F1. Not running to well at the minute, stalling, when on light throttle very jerky. Its also sounding very rattly.. Chris is going to have a quick look, and I hoped to get an induction kit to make some nice noises. Think I may have seen you sat, black, J* wak? On whitemere pool roundabout ( a favourite of mine for taking it fast, especially noy they have widened it! I was in the wifes scenic or I would have stopped..

Nightmare - usually they have almost all of the stuff you require in stock. Can I give you a little advice, but not wanting to tread on Chris/Craig's toes.

You may or may not be aware but we now have an independent specialist in Newcastle, well High Spen near Rowlands Gill. They are called Jude Performance Service and they have been looking after my car for about 4 months now and to be honest I'm not going back to F1 to have work done on my car. I think that we are pretty lucky in one sense having Chris/Craig here in Newcastle, they are really nice guys with a great knowledge of our cars and for dealers these guys rock, simple as that. Unfortunately because they are dealers and because of their location, workshop labour rates and parts prices are pretty high (although still cheaper than the likes of JCT600 in Leeds and Murray Motors in Edinburgh) so when it comes to an "A" service for example, F1 are charging about £260. Jude Performance on the other hand charges £120 for exactly the same service. I know some people have a fear of Independents and because this is the only on in the North East people will be a little reluctant at first but there have been quite a few Elise’s through their hands now including my best mates and they are superb to put it plainly.

Dan is the guy to contact, he drives an Elise and has rebuilt the K series engine in his and its now like a scud missile - it’s bloody quick. Email him on dan@judeperformance.co.uk if you do get a Hurricane induction kit Dan will fit it for you.

Yep you spotted me, in my black beast. Was it about 1.30pm or later about 5.30pm? I was off to Dan's to have my Emerald ECU fitted and tuned. I have just had a Lotus Sport 160 kit fitted to my S1 by Dan and we were just finishing off the last bits of the job.

What colour is your 111S then?

Cheers for that. Its a storm metallic, red roof, o5 plate, end AOS. I live in Cleadon so I'm aleways on felling by pass, tyne bridge etc as I work over that way.. Was going to try and get to the shatfo thing on 29th but was woking away, will get there soon so I can hassle eveyone with questions abot there motors. I have seen some of Dans reports on here, and he seems to really know his stuff. The car is still under warranty though as its only couple of months old, so its really going in to check its ok. Just fancised getting the filter fitted while there...

If I cant get one and it looks unlikely, then once they confirm engine ok I may call up and see Dan...

Thanks

Cleadon - well I should have guessed driving an expensive '05 111S!

My folks live next to the New Ship on the other side of the village so my Lotus is sometimes parked outside their house along with all of the other "WAK" cars like my Dad's CLK and my Brothers Cooper S.

I understand about the warranty thing, but at least you now know where to get your induction kit fitted.

I will have to keep my eyes open when I’m around the village. BTW for Shafto’s we usually meet in the car park at Washington services, southbound at 7pm then drive down there for 7.45ish.

Other Local cars are my mates Azure Blue S1 (V***DFT), usually seen in Cleadon/Sunderland, Lynn C (L8YN C) Titanium with red roof who is best avoided as she drives like a loony and a P reg. Racing green S1 from Park Shiel (but the guy doesn’t often drive it). Oh and an Exige with a plate saying something like 8ORT - looks like BORT I think.

The next Shafto's is Tuesday 26th July.

Where are you getting the ITG from and how much? I'm assuming you are getting Chris to fit it?

sounds about right, £360ish.

Piece of cake to fit, I might even offer to give you a hand if F1 don't get the time to fit it.......i'm on your doorstep!

Next step - Larini Exhaust and De-cat pipe, you know it makes sense!

Would be interested to hear you report back on how you find the ITG. I got an ITG fitted on my S2 111S in the spring but did it at the same time as getting a Larrini and Sports cat.

Not sure what effect the ITG would have on it's own but the combination is ballistic. Utterly transforms the feel of the car (not convinced about much actual power increase, but certainly feels like driving a Satern V rocket). Appart from the noise the throttle response is now fantastic, which improves feel and drivability too. Also I get some peachy burbles on the downshift which is nice.

As much as I love the ITG/Cat/Larrini noise (and how I do) I'd think twice about going full de-cat - I'm guessing it would be seriously noisy.

In my view the ITG is expensive but you've got to think about it in combo with a Larrini (etc.) the combo is magic. Let us know how it goes.

No worries mate, let me know if you want it fitting.

Exhaust for a S2, the general opinion is that the Larini exhaust is the best one for the S2, see www.larinisystems.com/ click on the catalogue section and bang in your car detials for more info and prices. If you want one though there is often a group buy that pops up every now and again, if you get 5+ people who want one, Larini usually discount the price by 20%ish per exhaust

The sound is excellent and the build quality is first class. WendyG has one fitted to her type 25 S2 111S, she is usually at Shafto's if you want to have a look at one in the flesh. As for a de-cat pipe, its a personal thing, some people find them very loud and others (like myself) want to have the loudest car possible (just ask the residents of Whitburn Road when I hoon along at 6k RPM!)

As for your warranty there are things you can get away with. Your ITG shouldn't cause a problem and if you do have a warranty claim you can always remove it and put the old airbox back on. Same goes for the exhaust, its not a difficult job to fit/remove, mine only took 2 hours to fit.

Chris and Craig see more modified cars each week than standard ones, so if you did have a warranty claim they would most likely turn a blind eye.

I'm with Elephant.co.uk and were great for me. some companies don't mind mods others do, just pot luck I guess.

A bit personal but if you are over 25 and a club lotus member (£25 per year) you usually get a really good deal through their nominated insurer who are mod friendly from memory - unfortunatly I don't qualify til oct.

Just get the Larini ordered and fitted - you will not be unhappy with buying it, I can assure you that.

Dont let F1 talk you into buying a Janspeed "official" Lotus exhaust. They will try and tell you that its the only exhaust you can fit that will not invalidate your warranty - true in one sense but you will pay for it, it will be more expensive than the Larini and you can buy exactly the same exhaust from PTP for less than the dealer will charge and still have the warranty valid.

To be honest I wouldn't put a Janspeed on a S2, they sound too raspy in my opinion. Go for the Larini every time.
