I am considering purchasing an Exige 430/410 for trackday use, but am aware that the factory fitted exhaust will fail noise limits on almost all UK trackdays.

Based on what I have found from some internet research, the following aftermarket options are available:
1) Seriously Lotus: https://www.seriouslylotus.com/lotus-quiet-track-s...
2) Komotec: https://www.komo-tec.com/en/lotus-exige/mk3-toyota...
3) For a time I believe Lotus offered a factory approved aftermarket option, but no longer do: https://mailchi.mp/80360bea9100/lotus-track-exhaus...
From what I have read elsewhere online, I believe this is the same as the options listed above that are still offered by Seriously Lotus and Komotec

4) 2Bular (various options): https://www.2bular.co.uk/exige-380
5) Hangar111: https://www.hangar111.com/shop/lotus-exige-v6-exha...
6) Komotec muffler: https://www.komo-tec.com/en/lotus-exige/mk3-toyota...

This website (I assume written by 2Bular) is not complimentary about all options other than theirs:
http://www.exhaustcompare.com/index.php/news/item/...

But then I have read other forum postings that are equally uncomplimentary about 2Bular.

This Pistonheads user seems happy with his 2Bular exhaust:
https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&...

I would very much appreciate some advice from anyone that has researched the same issue, or has fitted any of the above options, as to what you would recommend?

I don't mind not being able to drive Goodwood/Thruxton, but am looking for a solution that would get me on track at all other UK tracks, without having to coast/liftoff/short shift each time I go past the DB sensors at the track - want to be able to drive full chat without having to constantly worry about noise!

If you're not fussed about Goodwood or Thruxton then either of the options are fine.

I like my 2bular QP exhaust. The quality is spot on and it allows me access to all circuits. Admittedly Jim is a bit of an acquired taste and sometimes comes across hard / unfair on his competitors.... but if you look beyond his rambling you'll see his product stands up to the claims. It looks decent too.

The Lotus track exhaust is perfect if you want the factory approved product, but obviously it'll cost you more. They have this exhaust fitted to the 410 at the driving academy and it's much the same as the 2bular in terms of volume.

I don't have any experience with the Hangar 111 / Seriously Lotus exhausts so can't comment.

@ecain63 - thanks for your insight - really helpful.

Where you refer to "either option being fine" I assume you are referring to the 2Bular QP option as per your link above, and then the "official" Lotus Track Exhaust?

Do you know if Lotus still supply the Lotus Track Exhaust (I seem to remember reading on an old forum post that they no longer do)?

If they don't, do you know if either the Seriously Lotus or the Komotec options are exactly the same as the Lotus Track Exhaust (again I seem to remember reading on an old forum post that I now can't find that these are all exactly the same)?

Thanks!

I used the Hanger 111, not sure of noise level, it was on my 400 Evora but also fits 410 / 430 Exige, at Silverstone I was fine but 2 other cars were tripping the meters.
The big advantage was that It was supplied from stock where as Jim at 2bular’s deliveries can be a bit inconsistent!

Either the Lotus track exhaust or the 2bular fit the bill. Both will get you on most UK tracks. The Hangar 111 and Seriously Lotus exhausts I can't comment on as I don't know anyone with a 410/430 that has one fitted.

I believe the Lotus exhaust is a factory order. You can order it via your dealer or on deroure. You may even find one for sale on the forum if you are lucky.

With the 2Bular QP system, which UK tracks do you tend to have to fit the additional (ugly!) silencer, and which tracks can you get away with the default carbon finish exhaust tips?

Also, assume this is a straightforward switch that just requires a few spanners?
Does it require a trolley jack, or is it easy enough to do with the car on the ground?

Thanks again for the advice!

You need the bigger 350mm cans for Thruxton and Goodwood, and Brands if the weather is heavy. All other tracks I've been to are fine without the cans. I've yet to do Bedford though so I can't say what the score is there.

To fit / remove the exhaust it's really very easy. About a dozen bolts and basic tools. Takes me 90 mins without a jack or lift. To give a little more room I have more recently taken to reversing the car onto a pair of garden slabs, but this only so I have more room for my fat head.

It would appear lotus have indeed discontinued the track exhaust and replaced it with a new system. Not cheap though....

If anyone has an original 380/410 exhaust hanging around they don't need due to running a track friendly version (or is planning a change) I'd happily take it off your hands for my Exige V6S smile

Has anyone fitted a Hangar 111 track day 410 exhaust and what is their experience of it? I'm thinking of having one fitted as its in stock and they are not too far from me. Thanks in advance.

You might have better luck on TLF... I don't have a 410 but if I were you I would go with a 2bular (and I say that even though H111 have looked after all my Lotus for the past decade)

I think a fair few people track them, but a lot of people go for 2bular option.

Other people come up with different alternatives.

I personally just use a bolt on silencer than I made. The downside of this is that there will still be a couple of circuits where you need to lift-off / shortshift. (Bedford certainly, and possibly Goodwood on the quieter days)

I had one on my 400 Evora (same exhaust) never got round to fitting it to my 410 Exige, did trackday the Evora couple of times and no noise issues.

I have a 420FE and have fitted Jim’s 2Bular QP. It works very well, have done Goodwood and Bedford with no issues (with the big cans installed - getting 91-92db static and not triggering any of the drive by sensors). To put/remove the big cans is a 3 minute job with a spanner. To install the whole thing, as it was said before here, is a 60 min job, car on the ground and no mechanical knowledge needed, everything is very obvious and it just takes a bit of patience to get everything in the right place.

I haven’t tried any other options, but this one just works.
