Right... I've noticed a few of you have p-plates on your Elises/Exiges etc and I've been vaguely toying with getting one for my S1.

In NZ, we've got a different system to the UK.
Plates are 6-characters long. General format is 2 letters followed by 4 numbers eg XJ6996, as is on my car at the moment..... the current format is 3 letters followed by 3 numbers eg. CAS943.

If you go for a personalised plate you can have any combination of letters and numbers (so long as it's not already taken) so needless to say, options like ELISE and LOTUS are long-gone!

I'm not TOO into substituting letters for numbers etc... my friend has IOTUS on her Esprit and I'm not sure I like it. I'm kinda looking at going for something maybe a bit more abstract (in kiwi land anyway).

Ones that I'd thought of that are still available are:

SPARTN (Spartan... as in stripped out, which is the Elise compared to most cars)

LOUTUS (Kinda a cross between Lotus and Loutish)

LAIRY (I'm sure you all know what this means, although here in kiwi-land it's a term that most people would look at and completely not get.... would get knowing looks from the poms though :) Quite like this one... suits the aggressive nature of the car)

Anyone have any suggestions? What do you have as a p-plate? You've really got to be creative to think of something that's not already gone though.

ALYTUB = Available.... like it... certainly an Elise "in-joke" type thing

TOYCAR = Unavailable... prolly on a toyota

4POT = Unavailable

AGILE/AG1LE = Both Unavailable

One I did think of that's available is LURID

Another one that's available is LYT W8

LOOSER Good for those you have overtaken, I was really close to getting this for my car.... the wife hated it!

I have R111 OAR (ROAR) on a 111R, I like it, no one else does

Esprit,

I agree with your comments on p-plates. I think that they are best kept subtle and chosen to suit the car.

Not keen on substitutions, text speak, distorted spacing etc.

I would suggest a number of different avenues to explore.

The Elise was the Type 111 project.

So...

TYP111
LOT111

Or perhaps a weight based plate...(although finding the official weight is alittle confusing)

725KGS (Originally quoted @ 690KGS)

Or power to weight...(118bhp/725Kg = 163BHP/TONNE)

163BHP
163PTN

or perhaps the cars handling ability...

CORNER
TWISTS
TURNS*
DRIVEN
GRIN**
FUN111
SMILES

or construction...

GLUED* (also fitS handling characteristics)
STICKY

or other characteristics...

LEAKS*
RATTLE
SQUEAK

I like the sound of your registration system, seems like the worlds your oyster.

Regards, Neil

Funny you should mention TYP111 ..... a mate of mine has a S1 111S with that very same plate

I must admit I like your idea of GLUED .... kinda a pun/double-meaning thing... I can see I'm going to have to give this some thought

It's not hugely high on my priority list so I've got some time to think.... most of my plate ideas I don't imagine will be snapped up too soon anyway
