Hello

Thinking about getting an Exige, the 3.5 V6, an early model around 2014.

Am I missing much if I went for something like this?

Or do I need to wait for a sport model?

What is the difference between a S and non-S?

This seems a good price and I’m a big fan of yellow!

First off, nice choice! I’ve currently got an S2 Exige, but hoping to upgrade to an S3 Exige.

That yellow one looks to be a roadster rather than coupe, but I don’t think there’s much difference between the two other than the roadster doesn’t have a rear spoiler.

Quite a lot of options available, and most of this probably comes down to your budget.

The V6S's are the first ones that came out, there is no non S version of the V6. After this came the Sport 350 which has the same engine, the open gear linkage on the inside, glass rear window replaced with a louvered one and it weighs a few kgs less - same engine though.

The one list here is indeed a Roadster. Compared to the Coupe it has a slightly softer rear suspension set up than the Coupe, limited top speed to 145mph and no spoiler or splitter. Apart from the speed limiter acceleration etc are the same as the Coupe, Roadster weights a few kilos less.

Roadsters are seen as a little less desirable which makes me laugh as many coupe owners get the soft top conversion done, personally I prefer the clean look but each to their own. Doesn't seem a bad price for the miles/spec.

I had a S2 S and then went to a V6 S, V6's are a mega car with performance on tap everywhere, you will not be disappointed. As has been said, budget depending you have quite some choice. Enjoy the hunt.

PS - My old one is for sale at Stratton, take a few k of the price and it is a good buy. I have no connection to Stratton and I sold it 18 months ago with 9k miles on so it has not done much in the 2nd owners hands

Looks great.
Heated seats and cup holder, nice touches. People obsess about the light weight options, but those would be useful if you drive all year round and won’t make perceptible changes to the performance.

Love the colour. Sport model is quite a bit more. 17k miles looks ok for the age, and I wouldn’t worry about using a Lotus and putting miles on it - from a reliability perspective. The 145mph speed limiter shouldn’t be a problem even on most track days, if that’s your thing.

I have an S Roadster. Great cars and prefer the cleaner spoilerless look.

Roadsters tend to be a little cheaper, so another plus.

Coupe has stiffer suspension and more front camber, but I have tracked my roadster and just got more from camber dialed in to help turn in.

There are quite a few different versions of the Exige v6 now, all with different tweaks here and there. I do think it is worth really considering what you want from the car to decide ultimately which model to buy, as it often works out cheaper to buy the car with the bits already on it compared to buying a cheaper version and spending the money to mod it yourself.

I had my heart set on a 350 sport, but wanted all the carbon bits, and forged wheels. In the end I bought a 380 sport because it already comes with all the bits I wanted (and more) compared to the 350 sport

I agree, buy the right car from the start, far better residuals than a modified one
