Just had a couple of days having some work done on the Elise and am a VERY happy boy.
She had a split rack boot and there was a bit of a rattle in the steering so here's me fearing the worst, but my friendly, local Lotus service agent had the car yesterday and fixed me up and got me going again for the princely sum of $110 (about 40 pounds)... no more rattling and the steering feel is even better than it's ever been, which is FANTASTIC ...
I also decided to pull off my front grille (S1) as it was starting to brown up as all the early ones tend to after a while and I took it to a coatings place here in the city and they did a FANTASTIC job on it. It's now been cleaned up and re-coated and looks EXACTLY like a brand new one... possibly even better, and should be a good bit more durable than the original paint coating and it only cost me $20!!!! That's about 8 quid!!!
It's gotten to the point where the running costs of the Elise are working out WAY lower than those of my daily hack!
