Elise v Ginetta G-20 at the track
Discussion
The G20 has less mass and more power as standard, and to get round fabrication tolerances being a bit rubish, everything is adjustable as standard - most importantly the suspension. The G20 is also completely designed for track use, with performance clutch and brake setups.
A new stock G20 will also cost a fair bit less than a new stock S2.
Admittedly the Elise is a lot easier to drive hard, but quid for quid you get an awful lot more with a G20 than an S2.
If you had the two cars spec'ed as close as you could get them - power, torque, mass, etc. Then the Elise would win. The Elise would win even with a lower spec.
But If you spec'ed the two cars based on how much cash you had to spend, then extra you would get in the G20 would mean it would be pretty much of race car standard compared to a fairly normal Elise.

having watched an old style (not a Dare) G4 with a tuned 1660 Crossflow (145bhp-ish) beat an S2 111S and a VTEC S1 (with a slightly 'odd' suspension set up admittedly) on a hillclimb I'd say the G20 would win.
As said before, the G20 is more of a track car than a road car and is more of a track car than the Elise - I don't think there will be many people, if any, who use a G20 daily.

I think you have your wires crossed there if you're referring to Fintray hillclimb (I was in the 111S).
Honda S1: 35.15
S2 111S: 36.25
Ginetta G20: 37.52
Gus in the Ginetta has lots of experience, especially of Fintray wheras it was my first hillclimb...
I do like the Ginetta though, nice shape. Not had the chance to drive one yet.

Apologies Ali, thought Gus beat you.
I stand corrected.
Tut's car certainly looked out of shape at Fintray in relation to the suspension.
I think on track the G20 (as opposed to Gus' G4) would beat an Elise.
You in for August Fintray or Alford?
err - Tut's car is far from a good example of anything !
back to the subject, only way to quantify this is laptimes form some ccts, any idea's on the G20's times from anywhere that we can look at?
