Hi,

Coolant dripping on the under tray, timing belt end of the engine.

Could it be anything other than the water pump (before I start ordering parts)

Also, how difficult a job is it? I’ve been on Seloc for the tech- wiki on changing the belt and tensioner etc.

I’ve done regular timing belt changes on my other cars, but I’ve always entrusted my Elise to Experts.

Any advice would be very welcome.

Thanks Jim.

Have you checked the oil/water intercooler which is low down on the passenger side of the engine bay?

Hmmm? But, the leak is evident at the timing belt end of the engine - which is drivers side.

Well, the pool of coolant was evident yesterday without the engine running.

I’ve just fired it up very briefly and you can see it’s piddling out around the water pump.

Although it’s only done 38 K miles I’m sure it’ll be on it’s original (pump) which is obviously 18 years old.

I’ve ordered a pump and belt kit this morning, wish me luck - I’m not exactly looking forward to doing it!
