Corvette to Elise/exige
Discussion
Hi everyone, I’m potentially looking to sell my turbo c6 and purchase a more track focused car, hence why I’m here 😉.
My budget is around £40k preferably below and was wondering what would be the best model to go for. I know it sounds stupid but I worry I’ll not be satisfied with the power of a normal Elise after the corvette. I’ve seen some cup 220s, 250s or older exiges.
Also if anyone is interested in a 2007 c6 turbo let me know.

Exige S would do nicely... https://www.motors.co.uk/car-56255127/?i=3&m=s...
In your position, I'd probably be looking for a supercharged Honda powered car; either an S1 or an early S2 to keep the weight the right side of 850kg. Around 320bhp (~400bhp/tonne) is achievable without compromising reliability (as long as the half-shafts are up to it) and unlike a turbocharged car you have no compromise in terms of throttle response, which is important on track with such a short wheelbase. You should be able to get decent one for £25-30k.
The other obvious option is an early V6 Exige. That would give you slightly more power but quite a lot more weigh; plus he lack of charge-cooler can be an issue on track. The longer wheelbase and added stability control will make it much more benign.

I’d be looking at the Exige or Elise 250 with your budget. The Elise is quick and great for track and B roads, but the Exige is a thump in the back quick car, if that’s your thing. The Elise is probably a better balanced car but not as quick on a bigger track.
Don’t write off the paddleshifters. I’ve heard good things from owners I know. Try one, you might like it.
Try them all! You’ll be very welcome by sellers!

It's hard to pin this to a specific type that you "should" get, it really depends what you are looking for. Your budget opens up a lot of options for you.
Interiors won't change much at all from an S2 onwards, however the engines certainly do. The newer ones are a V6 and I think they sound the best. They're also bigger and heavier though. As you've said above, that also brings an option of an auto.
You can get an S2 supercharged Toyota engine Exige well within your budget and have plenty of money left over.
Quite a few of the S2s have been modified by now so you might want to look out for that if you're not keen on inheriting modifications.
