Hi all, a few weeks into s2 Exige ownership and I've got a few quick questions if anyone can help. It's an 08 'S'.

1. Interior light doesn't seem to turn off unless I have it in the always off position. Any likely culprits?

2. The HVAC controls don't illuminate with the dash. Should they?

3. The rear boot lid/engine cover looks like it should have two threaded rubber stoppers fitted to the underside. One is missing. Can anyone point me to a replacement?

Okay, we can cross question's 1 and 3 off the list.

Interior light now switching off okay though I haven't actually done anything other than test all the switches by hand. Half expecting that little issue to return.

Managed to find the parts number for the boot lid buffer things and ordered some spares from Elise Shop.

HVAC illumination still a mystery.

HVAC illumination problem is well known, it doesnt use a bulb as such, so not a simple or cheap fix, you need to order a new unit for £150 or so, and a bit of effort to fit. Mine's 50% lit and haven't bothered to sort it. Google it, theres a few threads talking about it.

(Hope you're well mate, long time no see!)

No worries, another one to watch out for is the start/stop button not lighting. Had mine for months before I realised the bulb had gone, easy fix (with a bit of help from Ads).

Well funnily enough I started a thread about that last week. Mine's flashing rather than dead. I'd almost prefer it if it had just died! Need to find a source for bulbs though.

You can buy the bulbs from RS Online they have a branch on the Team Valley

Fairly straight forward repair bit of a step by step image guide at the bottom of this thread https://arc.seloc.org/viewthread.php?tid=360758

The HVAC illumination thing came up on a Facebook Lotus Group post a couple of weeks ago, somebody proudly declared they had fixed theirs - and then pretty much every other poster responded with "oh, I didn't realise they were supposed to light up" hehe

It certainly seems that most cars have this fail, I never even noticed if mine works or not - car is in bits at the moment so can't even test.

LOL. It does seem a surprisingly complicated solution to illumination, not entirely surprising they don't have a long life expectancy.

I took my HVAC panel apart on Sunday and gave it all a bit of a clean with alcohol but it's not sparked into life. The car is actually under warranty still so I could probably get it fixed but it's a long drive there for a repair that might only last for 5 minutes. Think I might stick with the fumble in the dark approach.

Replaced this tonight. Thanks for the heads up. Went with the yellow bulb option as it is far dimmer (didn't want the distraction) and as it happens it seems to be the same colour as the original. One job ticked off the list. smile

Think I'm giving up on the HVAC panel. Can't get any life out of that.
