Exige S - Exige 410
Discussion
After 6 years and 2 months of ‘dailying’ i’ve upgraded to a 410.
And it really is an upgrade!
It is significantly better in every area - even during running in, it pulls very hard on nowhere near full throttle. The suspension feels stiffer yet the car has lost none of the legendary Lotus compliance.
It has huge amounts of grip. ( for those in the know I took the car from Glasgow to Arrocher via Faslane, then onto Inveraray, down to Lochgilphead and then up to Port Appin via Oban ) It did this journey in just under 2.5 hours despite the inevitable light controlled roadworks.
The seats are more supportive and the engine sound ( I have the exhaust bypass button) is addictive.
Today’s drive was identical to the first run I did on my new Exige S in 2013 and with the fuel gauge showing enough to get me back to Glasgow I thought that the 410 must have a bigger tank - but it only took 39.5l at the pump ( and a quick google confirmed a 40l tank) which works out as 32.8MPG - way better than the ‘S’
The ‘S’ was my first Lotus and could have been designed for me ( it’s gone to another PHr) but the 410 is better in nearly every way ( rear visibility is worse although the headlights seem to be an improvement)
Anyone thinking of a 410 will not be disappointed!
