Winter wheels and tyre choices - Exige V6 - Am I mad?
Discussion
I might be doing the stupidist thing ever but want to give it a shot anyway! I'm the new owner of a V6S Roadster, currently has the standard P Zero Corsas and I would like to run it through winter (or try to at least). Naturally with having 265 rear section tyres and not all that much weight, it's going to be terrible in the cold/snow!
So does anyone have any experience, reccomendations or good info on wheel and tyre setups for the winter. Will elise wheels fit straight on? (with a spacer I would guess)

I’ve driven a few mid engined cars in poor conditions. With decent tyres you will be fine. Try to pick a tyre from a respected manufacturer with sipes that have a zig zag pattern. Lots of straight sipes are great for traction...but that is one area you don’t need to improve. Zig zag sipes make the tyre more predictable.
Lovely car by the way.

From the SELOC Wiki:
For winter tyres Lotus specify Pirelli SottoZero Serie II tyres, SottoZero 210 Serie II 205/45 R17 88V M+S (33.5 psi) for the fronts, SottoZero 240 Serie II 235/40 R18 95V M+S (36 psi) for the rears. Although the rear tyres can fit the standard 9.5J x 18" rear wheels, Lotus also supply 8J x 18" rear wheels.

I live in Glasgow and bought my Exige V6 in June 2013 - It has been my daily driver since with 4 days in that time i couldn't use it (due to snow level above the front splitter) - Only had winter tyres on it 2018/19 - Made a big difference, but the car is surprisingly good at telling you what is happening no matter what tyres it has fitted- Just don't expect to plant the throttle in the lower gears without some tail end action.
I got a spare set of std V6 wheels from eBay and a set of Sotto Zero Pirelli winters from the V6 Owners Group on FB.
