Hi guys.

I am interested n a S3 Exige. I currently own a Mk3 FRS. If i were to budget around £40k for a car would i get something good? Are there any specifics or optional extras that are must have's?

I'd love to hear some owners experiences and advice on ownership and any recommended dealers etc.

Thanks in advance.

You will get a s3 for that money but it will be an S model......worth putting another 3-4 k in to get a later sport model, updated gearbox, lighter, faster etc.

Answering above...it depends what you want. The V6 is better suited to road driving, They cut additional weight with the 350 so it has no rear glass (plastic louvres), no cup holder, no carpets. A whole host of things that make the V6 nice on the roads. I don't think the 350 is any quicker than the V6. I have had a 350 and currently have a 430. I prefer the glass screen of the earlier car and having driven a few I would have no issues with it. The gear change is fine in the V6 all that's missing is the exposed gate. Like all Lotus's if it doesn't change gear perfectly just get the cables adjusted.

Go for it £40k will get you a nice one and there is a very nice vibe and plenty of meet ups between the owners. If you get a roadster it will be even better value and you can buy the spoiler & splitter & hardtop. (I have spare spoiler & spliter I can sell).

Don't worry too much about V6 / 350 or coupe / roadster just get the one you like in your budget, they are very simple cars with very reliable engines so you wont go wrong.

Ah yes and with some of the change you could get a Komotec 390 upgrade which gives a useful performance improvement along with better economy. I`d not go any further unless you really want a hike in performance, but you`ll pay for it along with all the other improvements you`d be advised to make.
