Exige 380 / 410 / 430 noise levels
Discussion
Anyone had any noise issues with these cars at track days. I'm particularly interested in cars with non titanium exhausts and at circuits with 105dB static and 97dB drive-by limits. I'm pretty confident my 410 would pass 105dB static but bit worried about 97dB drive-by (without short shifting etc) !

I have an Exige V6S with a sports exhaust and I got black flagged at Brands Hatch on 105db day!
Luckily I brought some exhaust mufflers along with me.
I measured 96db on the static but buzzed the sensors on the driveby. That’s without the sports button pressed and the exhaust valves shut too!
I was looking at an Evora 410 but was put off by the loud exhaust (couldn’t afford it either, if I was truthful to myself)

I think Lotus got moaned at because the engines were not loud enough, but they've gone completely overboard...or being cynical they made them too loud to stop track use, but that is unlikely as one of the test drivers from Lotus told me to get the car on track and rag it...that is what they are built for.
It is likely the Lotus silencer will be several thousand...and I`m not here to plug Hangar 111 but they do a good trackday silencer as I am sure others do for less the £1k. I actually quite like the deeper softer below it now makes, although you could argue it is too quiet at higher revs, but at least you won`t be heard coming from the next county!

I got black flagged at silverstone at 108db. I ended up having to short shift in the areas I knew where the db meter were.
As for this "Lotus exhaust", that was a rumour that was started about 3 years ago when the evora 400 first came out. It has since been confirmed that no such exhaust is in the works, so do not wait for it - especially now Lotus' new owners and the inevitable switch away from toyota engines, why would they spend any money now on an exhaust system for an engine that will no longer be in its cars?
You will have to get an aftermarket exhaust to cope with the noise levels unfortunately...

Was that with a titanium exhaust ?

I had the Hanger 111 exhaust on my 400, makes a huge difference, was fine at Silverstone, when a couple of other 400 / 410s where tripping the drive by, no noticeable difference to performance, but it sounded much slower! As for this "Lotus exhaust", that was a rumour that was started about 3 years ago when the evora 400 first came out.
