Hi

Quick question if anybody knows. The car has a fixed hard roof and I have seen a few videos about removing it which is fine.

Is it possible to fit a soft roof into the gap? I was thinking it would be fun to run as a convertible on sunny days but don’t want to be caught out in the pouring rain with no roof, so carrying an emergency roof seems like a good idea.

S

ps the site has had a bit of a wobble, I really didn’t post so many times 😊

smile at the duplicate posts.

Yes you can fit a soft top but you will need to modify the roof bar behind the seats to take a couple of ‘retainers’ for the soft top. the front retainers are already built in to the windscreen surround.

I did this myself on my S2 Exige and thought about doing it on my S Cup but never got around to it.

Parts can be bought from a dealer or through deroure.

As said above the S2 / S3 soft top will fit you probably just need to install the roof bar stays above the seats

Retro fit guide http://www.billswebspace.com/exigesofttopretrofit....

You will need
(2) A116B0182F Conv. Bow Plug £3.71ea
(2) B117B0480K Plug Spacer £5.28ea

Which are shown here as items 21 and 22 https://deroure.com/diagrams.asp?TBL=11675&MAK...

Oh and a soft top which will set you back £500/600

As other have said there's no problem fitting a soft top and at most you will have to cut the roll hoop cover and fit some roof bar grommets.......

My 65 plate S Cup already has the grommets in the rear roll hoop cover so I presume all the Cups will have the same as I don't see Lotus making them specially for the few number of Cup models ?
