Anyone know of reputable re-trimmers in the Midlands? Want to get the seats, doors and floor carpets done.

Not in the Midlands, but the Lotus factory trim shop is excellent and surprisingly reasonably priced. You can go direct to them or via hangar 111 - prices on their website.

could always try www.ssctrimming.co.uk. Little bit further up north, but if you had the bits and pieces carried to them, they would do them indivdually leaving the car with you.
They did my civic type r which is featured on their website

I've just had my used 111S completely re trimmed (bought from dealer)....

Hang on...Neil...you asked me about this before, didn't you? ah heck, you know what my answer's going to be then!

I don't have the seats back, as they've taken DOUBLE the amount of time they said they would to get my interior done, so I can't - as yet - comment on quality of finished product. (Can do from this Saturday, though!).

Will do!
As I say, the length of time it has taken is huge (5 weeks and counting), but this Saturday I'll be picking up my new baby!

Thanks
Tony

Aldridge trimmers in Wolverhampton are excellent. They re trim loads of classics, don't know if that's anywhere within range for you.

Hi Neil

Following on from my post yesterday and this thread, here lies my thoughts....

Ordered the car 5 weeks ago, where upon we agreed there and then colour, and bits to have trimmed (more on that later). Seats and panels were sent away two days later (so I'm told). I chase. I chase. I chase. About 2 weeks ago (after LOTS of to-ing and fro-ing and eventually a cancelled car order with the dealer!) my dealer used the words to Lotus "if he doesn't get his car this saturday, consider the order cancelled". That was for the 7th May. I didn't get my car, agreed terms with the dealer, and had a loan car for a week with the promise of it being done by 14th May (already had one of those promises, so wasn't overly confident, but at least I had a loan car now!).

On the 10th May my dealer received back my seats and panels........IN THE ORIGINAL BLACK! So, they jump in a Saab estate, get the seats to Norfolk, Tues/Wed/Thurs they are retrimming my seats, they pick them up Friday, as I'm getting the car Saturday morning.

As I arrive Saturday morning they're just screwing seats into place and finishing off the car.

This is what I was greeted with...

Now, remember, this is absolutely brand spanking new never before been sat on retrim of my car. Hmmmmmm.........

To give you an example of how it should look, this is a picture of a car in the show room with an identical interior (picture only taken with my phone though so not as good quality):

Oh, and it's at this point that I should mention the centre console (bit around gearstick and hand brake) should also have been covered in the same leather (wanted something a bit different, you see). Needless to say, it's not trimmed. They 'forgot' to send away the centre console, and didn't have time once they realised. Well......5weeks isn't THAT long, is it?

So, what did I do? Well, they assured me that the leather would settle. So, we've made a note on the sales receipt that we are to check the condition again in 1 month. If it's no better, I will ask them to sort it...

My question to you, fellow PHers, does that look like a brand spanking new factory retrim, or is Lotus' quality control not very good. I stress the leather does look new though. Oh...so new it still had glue all over it from where they put it on the seats. Although it came off, not really what I was expecting.

Don't get me wrong though peoples....I still love my car

Why don't you log on to the Midland Lotus Owners Club (MLOC) website (search for MLOC on Google) and ask in the forum... there is bound to be someone there who will have decent info...

Cheers

Rich (Rich111s on MLOC)
