I have a 51 reg s2 elise and recently i have been getting noise from the brakes, like a grinding noise. It's a bit intermittment and doesn't seem to affect the performance of the brakes- any ideas..??

If it's parked up with any moisture on the disks then you get some surface rust effect on the surface. It rubs off the first couple of times you use the brakes. That said, i've always been able to hear my brakes a little, when they're working at low speeds on my Series 1 and then my Series 2.

As the dealer will tell you.............

They all do that Sir!

If you want to stop it, you'll need some aftermarket disks and pads most likely.

so no need to worry about it then?? I've done 15k and the discs haven't been changed yet- guess they must be needing it soon??

Could be something trapped behind the pad or wheels bearings worn (although at that age?).

Id be inclined to get an expert opinion if its brakes.

discs should last longer than 15k - its the time that will kill them probably, as they gradually rust away...
