Trickle Charger on S2 111R

Just thought I'd enquire about how easy it is to use a trickle charger on my S2 Elise 111R, it's a 2005 if that makes any difference.

I have one I was using on my Porsche which the Elise replaced and wonder, does the 12v socket in the car remain permanently live and does anyone know if I am likely to have any problems charging via it?

Where I'm using it pretty often in the nice weather that would last forever.....

Have used trickle charger though 12v cigar lighter on all my past Elise’s and current Exige.

I have a VX220 which is based on the Elise S2, as I'm sure you know. The 12v socket remains live and I leave my car on an intelligent charger during the winter, always fully charged and never a problem.
