Early 111S questions
Discussion
Hi, I'm new here so hopefully doing this right, apologies if not...
I have had a 52 plate 111S for a couple of years now, but am starting to notice it is a bit different from most, and am keen to find out a couple of things:
1) I have a Cam position with an intermittent fault. My sensor is aft of the black dust cover (i.e. at the rear side of the block), which seems different from the workshop manual which pictures it at the front of the block, under the cover. More annoyingly it is also a different sensor with different connector. An MG specialist recognised my sensor as the same as a TF and suggested I need either a NSC000010slpp (long pin) or a NSC100380 (short pin). Any ideas which I need?
2) I understand that my car isn't alone in having manual windows as other early 111S owners have posted about that before, but I'm not sure I have a high ratio gearbox that I think 111Ss are supposed to have. The car sits at 3,500RPM at 70mph, the same as my 4 speed mini. It also redlines at 130mph on the autobahn, which is the published top speed of the non 111S. However it does have the decals, wheels, diffuser, rear grille, etc. and seems to have plenty of poke up all the way up to the shift light at 7,300ish (never looked exactly, too busy grinning) so I'm pretty sure it is a 111S (V5 also agrees). Do any early 111Ss have different ratios?
3) I have a lotus hard top with an extra central rear clamp to hold it on that others don't seem to have. The roof has a genuine Lotus box with a part number similar to but not quite the same as a normal roof (I don't have box or roof to hand as it is all packed away for the summer, but I can dig it out if needed). Anyone seen one of these before?

If you are seeing 4,000rpm at 80mph in 5th then you have a close ratio gearbox.Could the car be an Elise 111 not a 111s.
Don't think it was released in Europe though, not sure on what box the 111 had.
Bit of info here (2002)
