I am pretty sure the speakers on my Exile are blown, as they sound terrible and cannot handle ANY base.
I was just wondering if there is an established route to upgrade the system?
Has anyone just changed the speakers to aftermarket ones that fit straight in and been happy?

I don't really want to go down the sub woofer route as I rarely listen to the stereo.

I am presuming the Clarion head unit is at least halfway decent!!

Any help would be appreciated,
Cheers

Ed

Have exactly the issue with mine, I phoned the local dealer about 6 weeks ago and I'm still awaiting them ringing me back so in the meantime I just listen to the exhaust note instead.

Be interested to hear if anyone has changed the speakers

I would guess the dealers will recommend replacing the blown speakers with the same, if they are covered by warranty?
But then would they just blow again?

On my s2 elise i did the following:

- head unit replaced with a pioneer mechless unit with one of these behind it (together taking up the same space as the oem head unit):

https://www.pioneerelectronics.com/PUSA/Car/Amplif...

- Adaptor rings and 5.25” pioneer component speakers up front. I elected to cut holes in the dash for the tweeters which does look factory, but you can mount them on pods if you don’t fancy that. Crossovers are velcro’d to the underside of the dash.

- 6.5” pioneer component woofers in the rear, didn’t bother with tweeters here as there’s no point.

The speakers were a notable bargain, $100 runout specials down from $300+ a set from one of the US sites. Difference is night and day. I can also make handsfree calls with decent clarity - mic to the head unit clipped onto the sun visor with the cable tucked into the a pillar.

I guess they would, just waiting on a phone call back from them but after 6 weeks i'm not holding my breath
