Got the car back from Christopher Neils at the weekend, they fixed most of the niggles in the 1,000 mile service, but in the process they managed to knacker the passenger door button (external)?

It presses in but doesn't open the door, like as if a child lock were on (but from outside). Is there any way I can fix this, as I can't get back to the dealer for a while...

Stick your key in and unlock it. It is a kind of deadlock. You had best do it quick, the alarm doesnt like it and will refuse to arm.

Ummm. Am I missing something here, or was the question:

"Help, my door won't open"

and the right answer was:

"Unlock it first."

there is 2 ways to lock the door. The main method is via the keyfob / alarm thing. you can also "deadlock" the door by putting your key in the doorlock. A little unusual but quite clever. you cant open the door without the key, you cand disarm the alarm without the fob.

Pah, you S2 boys and your toys. Us S1 peeps have no problems with our stick-the-key-in-the-lock-and-twist form of entry

All that remote opening shenanigans weighs too much anyway

Is a weight saving if is stolen?

I also have carpets, electric windows and a stereo! positively lardy!
Then I get in, I have to loose 20lbs or so...

I should have my personality removed to save weight and got a TVR

Or you could just look like me and be a thin as a rake and not have to worry about how much weight you are adding each time you are sitting in it

Probably can't fit them in with all that aircon, remote lock/unlock, carpeting, plush armchair, 4x speaker crap all over the gaff.

Beachbum's is the naked version. Weight loss for him means leaving his sunglasses at home and having a haircut.

Interesting... have you tried locking the car with the keyfob and then pretending that the battery is flat and try to open it with the key?

If I'm right, you'll find that the key won't work, because the deadlock is, in fact, motor operated. It's the same as all Elise's, except real ones don't have the heavy bits...

The deadlock is key operated and the door lock operates with the fob.

May be weigh more than a S1, but it is more comfortable and FASTER

Now half of the forum hates me, Im going to bed...
