Hi All,

I have recently purchased my first Lotus Elise (S1 in Silver with matching hardtop and black wheels) very happy with it indeed and the best handling car I have ever driven on the road. Very pleased indeed. Love it and have wanted one for years.

I have a few small faults with the car and one of them is the protective film near the rear arches is starting to fade and will need replacing. Is the best place to buy this from Lotus and if so how much would this be?

I also can sometimes smell petrol a very light smell when driving and I am not sure if this is normal as it my first Elise or something to be concerned about, I do have Lotus warranty on the car so can take it in to be checked over if this is not normal.

Cheers for any responses to my problems/questions.
A very happy elise owner
Alex.

Well done on the car. Put some pics up please.

The 'armourfend' on the arches does tend to discolour and peel after a while. You can get black ones which would go well with your wheels.

Have a look on Hangar 111.com for them.

I wouldnt worry about the smell too much.

Mine smells of petrol when it's full too (top colour choice BTW ) so don't worry about it.

When removing the Armorfend, use a hairdryer to get it nice and warm, once it's off use some meths to clean any goo away.

Howdy,

I too have just last Thursday picked up my first Elise - loving it so far too! Pic in profile....

Was yours the one that was on eBay? I was watching it then it disappeared...!

Mine is also silver with Hardtop, and the only niggles I have are the window (drivers side) has fallen into the door (parts orderded!) and the front brake pads are rattling as if they are loose (they are new).

Other than that its a massive from me.

Cheers to you all for your replies.

I love the car to bits and even though there are the odd mark and odd stone chip very happy indeed.

I will post some pics up as soon as taken some.

Does anyone have a picture of a silver one with the black protective sheeting and do you think that will look better than clear. It might look good with the black wheel.s

I'd stick with clear myself.

Also a pick in here on an Elise, they're carbon fibre and look IMO
