Keep an eye on the news later, Elon Musk is hoping to put his (Elise based) Tesla Roadster into space on his SpaceX Falcon Heavy rocket. All going well sometime around 6:30pm UK time.

Could post this in other sections too as it'll also mark the first time Astra indicator stalks and Metro mirrors reach orbit.

Can't wait biggrin

Loved the boosters landing. Absolute perfection!

Shame the core module hit the sea at 500km/h!

its a great achievement for sure.
also now the fastest car of the planet with many thousands of miles per hour in orbit? :-)

also cool that 'robot' astronaut and the 'don't panic' in the display :-)
and the David Bowie’s classic tune Life on Mars was played throughout the launch.

So what other obscure bits ended up in space in that car?

- Metro mirrors
- 1989 Rover 200 inner door handles
- 1990 Vauxhall Astra indicator stalks

What else? What are the air vents out of?
