Just buy the Lotus factory S/C upgrade.
It's got a warranty, it's proven and you won't have any grief.
Every single Katana (if they still do it?), H111 etc conversion I've ever seen (good friends cars) have been an utter nightmare costing £££ to sort out.

Isn't the lotus one max 220 bhp with no room to go higher?

Hi Peter,

I've got an Exige S2 05 plate, with the Lotus supercharger upgrade kit, which includes:-

Tiny supercharger incorporated with the inlet manifold, no numbers but I'm told 3-4 psi at best.

Uprated fuel pump.

Uprated injectors.

Remapped Lotus ecu which changes the cam switch point to 4K

1 grade cooler plugs.

Mine has the TRD air box.

The issue is that you don't get an intercooler with this kit and you cannot retro fit one either, and after a short period of time heat soak and charge temps cause the ECU to pull back to protect the engine as it still runs circa 11-1 CR, I'm informed that it is easy to end up with less power and torque with this kit than to leave it N/A !!! I don't have numbers sorry but you can feel it goes "off" I've never driven a standard 190 BHP car so I cannot compare.

s/charging creates enormous heat. I was quite shocked when I charged my mx5. I naively thought inter cooling was just about intake air temps. I learned it goes further than that. the cost is normally more than you budgeted for when you started.

Don’t get the lotus sport charger. It’s utter crap - pretty much a £5k paper weight.

Either get the rotrex conversion with syvecs Ecu done at Eliseracing or import a BOE Rev400 kit from the states. These options both address the biggest problem regarding supercharging/reliability/maintaining power which is heat.

If think carefully before modifying a standard car these days. I guess it depends on the mileage of the car but if it's a 20k minter outta best left alone.

The lotus kit just fills in the low down wait for the cams kicking in really. As Hugh says it's not mind blowing but it does improve the car overall if changing the character.

Rotrex cats are fantastic. It will need rebuilding with forged components after a few k though.

Don't do the BOE option...My only recommendation is to stay away from BOE.

Here is another vote for Elise Racing Syvecs.

so are you running the eliseracing set up? must admit 316 bhp is more than i was chasing(does the g/box take this amount),around 260-280 would be good, want a reliable smooth setup with no issues

I had a Katana supercharger fitted a few years back (quite a few actually!) by Essex Autosport. It dyno'd at 255 although that number isn't necessarily guaranteed and they described it as 'a good one' on the day.

Never had any issues with it whatsoever. Felt like a massive upgrade at the time and still feels quick now! You will lose the character of the cam change but, for my money, the sound and acceleration you get from the supercharger is way better.

I have a H111 280s kit.. has been good so far.. much better then previous katana which was an utter nightmare.. 280 is a good power output as its flipping quick but will not break the gearbox unless you abuse it

The H111 280 sounds great but £7k is out my of budget,I would of thought there would be more people doing the s/c for the lotus

I also have a s/c fitted to my 111R by Essex Motorsport a few years ago. No probs whatsoever. Would recommend them.

TTS in Towcester supply and fit Superchargers for Lotus so depending on where you are you could try them.
