Right basically the story is I am looking into getting a Elise S1 my 13k budget will not stretch to a S2. Have had a look on elises.co.uk very useful site that.

What Id like to know is for the money what models could I look at getting?? 111R/S, 135? 160 maybe? I have had a go in my fiances S2 135 and wow that was good

My advice would be to carry on using your fiances car and blow your £13K on lap dancers.

Other than that there are lots of good cars within your budget. Have a look in the classifieds.

According to many a genuine factory 135 Sport is the best of the S1's. These are rare though and tend to hold their value the best of the S1's

Standard cars are cheap, still fast and offer plenty of scope to tune.

111S are very good but harder to find a really good one and limited scope for tuning.

Sport 160 are very quick and great for track work but again hard to find a good unmolested one and they are very lumpy at low speed so not best suited for an everyday car.

Sport 190 are track day specials but quite rare and still expensive.

I would look at a good standard car with some sensible mods or a nice 111S.

I agree with Davey's post above. Have a look at a few which are in your budget, don't discount anything yet. Drive a couple of different variations and see what you like best.

IMvHO for 13k you'll get a very nice S1, perhaps with a few mods, you'll just scrape 111s territory with that amount and then will be one with more miles. Std car with sports zorst, induction, decent tyres, perhaps revised suspension set-up (nitrons, LSS or S2) will give lots and lots of enjoyment.

Always buy on condition and insist on full service history with places who have a good rep (some very good specialist non-franchised places out there). When you find the one you want, make the offer to purchase contingent on a full checkover by one of these outfits - don't bother with AA or RAC checks.
