Hi Lotus Enthusiasts,
This winter / Next spring I’m getting myself an Lotus Elise S1. Looking very much forward to that moment.
I fell in love with this model many years ago when going to 24h of Le Mans.
At the campsite a couple of English guys arrived in an corvette and a lotus elise S1 titanium gray with an dark blue soft top. Amazing combo!
The Elise had Victory wheels! imho the best looking wheels for the S1
Now, every year I go the Le Mans I see this beauty I want one more and more.
At the moment I’m reading very much about the car end its weak points for example the head gasket.
Now you are the owners of this great car and hopefully you can tell me more about things where I need to pay special attention to when I go look for one.
Thanks in advance!
Greetings Erik Martijn

Hi Erik, I'm sure that people will reply to you soon but there isn't a lot of discussion on the Lotus section of Pistonheads. It is probably worthwhile joining SELOC (http://www.seloc.org/) and posting your question there too as it is a far more active board.
I don't have an Elise S1 as such, but i do own a version of the Elise that is based on it and can say that they are fantastic and you won't be disappointed if you buy a good example. Head gaskets have been known to fail but it is not a very expensive job. I think that the Rover K series engine has a lot of character and is just about perfect for a lightweight sports car.
All the best,
Danny.
