Next week I get my very 1st lotus (elise - 1999) I am obviously very excited and glad to be joining the lotus drivers.
I live in holland and will make plenty of use of the dutch and german roads.

Are there any obvious tips you can offer a noob to the Lotus scene? (and I dont want to hear lotus being an acronym for Lots Of Trouble Usually Serious) Its going to be a 2nd car - so not an everyday run about.

btw - any Lotus owners around the A'dam area on here?

Congrats, you'll love every minute of driving your new car!

Your profile doesn't show what other cars you've owned, but my first tip is -- if you're not used to lightweight rear-wheel drive cars -- get driver training and some experience on an airfield or track.

Next tip: Ditch the Pirelli P-Zero tyres and fit Yokohama Advan Neova LTS tyres for winter. Drive very carefully in the wet!

Final tip: Enjoy! Maintenance is easy and relatively cheap. If you look after it well you won't have any serious mechanical problems. Probably!

Check out the British Cars BBS , there are a number of Dutch/Belgian owners who regularly post there and who meet up.

I'm sure they read this BBS too, but perhaps not as often as the Britsh Cars one.

Happy Motoring , and I can second Bonce's advice for driver training, it's a must!
