Put mintex on the front on saturday. VERY easy to change pads esp with help from elise.faq.

firstly, pedal feel is much, much firmer. Did about 10 stops from 40mph to 15mph one after other then about 6 from 60-15 then one big 90-0 stop.

they do squeal when they are cold. BUT, the stopping power is far better than it was, the pedal feel is much better and it is much easier to modulate and feel for the locking point. No fade so far but haven't been totally roasting them just yet til they've settled down.

A worthwhile £59 spent at demon tweeks. definitely recommended if you feel your car lacks a bit of stopping power/bite.

Isn't that a bit harsh on new pads? I thought the recomnmendation was to bed them in gently for a couple of hundred miles?

na, that's what I've done with my hillclimb car and most rally drivers I know do the same. it certainly seems to work and in this case it seems good too. after that I left them to cool completely

cuzza...for fast-road pads, that's what you do.

I've had 1144s for about 35,000miles now...and they're very impressive. As above - great pedal feel, great consistency. Very good fade-resistance on-track.

One warning - they generate loads of dust, so keep your wheels clean - my alloys need a refurb because the dust is welded on!!! And I wash my car every 2-3 weeks (~300miles/week average).

havoc, should be ok for me - generally my car is washed every 2nd or 3rd day.

Yup, nice choice - you can't beat 1144s - great compromise for track/everyday use - last forever too

On my 3rd set...on an 1100kg car which does the odd trackday, I don't see more than around 15k per set...hence the dust.

Talking of brake dust, just watched the new JGTC - "Super GT" on Motors TV...the amount of dust that flies out when they change the wheels!!!

"Washed every 2-3 days"?!? You have FAR too much time on your hands - do you ever work?!?!?
