I am looking at replacing my Elise S1 tyres and wondered what the views are on the best tyres to use - was aiming to keep the tyres the original sizes (fronts 185/55R15 and rears 205/50R16)

Tyres would be for road use mainly in summer rather than for track days, so not looking at the semi-slick options such as Toyo Proxes R1R's - does any one recommend Toyo Proxes T1R's?

Or would Yokohama Neova AD08R's be a better choice for general road use?

Any advice much appreciated!

AD08Rs by a country mile over T1Rs.
Excellent grip and feel, work well in the wet - best all round Elise tyre full stop smile

Another vote for AD08-R's here, great tyre.

As a side note, do Avon do the more road biased version of the ZZR; the ZZS in S1 sizes yet? If so they could be worth a look too.

Internet wisdom had me thinking that the new set of Firestones my latest S1 came with were not a great tyre. I changed to AD08R in a 195 fitment a few weeks ago. 225 replacing 205 on the rear.

The car has found more grip. However I've also lost a good measure of that delicious feedback you get through the steering. This may be as result of the ridiculously low tyre pressures 'the internet' suggests you run. I've already increased from 24-26 to 26-28 which brought some feel back.

These may work better on track.
